Are there any carts besides the namiki carts that fit the VP? I am not a big fan of the Namiki colors, and the carts are so much better than the converter that comes with the pen (IMO).

I've been thinking about using a syringe to fill the carts with some Aircorps Blue-Black, but I don't know where to get one or what size needle to use. any tips?

Is it easy to get a syringe?
misterh
It is only the Pilot/Namiki cartridges that fit a VP. I use a syringe to refill mine without any problem. The opening at the end of the cartridge is quite wide, so it is very easy to refill them and also to flush them out again.

I use the Write Fill kit, I am not sure where you are, but it is available from Pear Tree in the U.S. and Cathedral Pens in the UK.

There is also an FPN member who sells a kit, but I haven't got the details to hand. If you do a search in Market Place, you should be able to find it.

Hi:

Go to the nearest drug store, buy the cheapest syringe, and load your cartdridge,

Julio

Try the converter CON 20, it is Pilot's standard and cheapest converter and takes more ink than the CON 50 that comes with the VP.

Well I didn't know you could just walk in and grab a syringe. That makes it easy. Thanks for the replies. I'll also look in to the other converter as well.

Another vote for refilling empty Pilot cartridges. I find it helpful to remove the plastic plug at the opening first.

refill refill refill

yeah, it can be a pain - but you get so much more volume (compared to converters) and so many more colors to choose from. If you wanna be really brave, you can refill without flushing and try a new ink each time. Then see what happens as the color morphs from the previous ink to the new ink. smile.gif

I didn't get a converter with my pen (bought new) But really want to get away from cartriges. How well does the Con 20 work? Leaks and such?

I wish I had a large variety as this would be pretty fun, but I'm afraid that they would always end up being a slightly different version of Blue-Black.

I just use a normal hypodermic syringe taken from a travel syringe set to fill international standard cartridges with no problem. It really is very easy to do.

I have both the Con 50 and the Con 20. I really dislike the Con 50, I find it fiddly to use and, as many others have mentioned, it doesn't hold much ink.

The Con 20 is a big improvement, I find it easier to use and I can get more ink into it. I have not experienced any problems with it leaking.

Whilst the Con 20 is an improvement over the Con 50, I still normally refill cartridges if I am at home. They hold more ink than the convertors and in my experience, the flow is a bit better too. I take the Con 20 if I am travelling and don't want to take syringes with me.

I recently switched from the piston to the Con 20 and have been very happy. Holds more ink and no issues... It might just be circumstances but it seems that Ive been writing for days longer between refils.

This really depends on where you live. AFAIK, you can't buy a syringe in my state (Pennsylvania) without a prescription, and I'm not sure if you can even own one legally.

I found a local source for Pilot cartridges so I bought a box yesterday. Blue ink. Actually the blue is rather nice and better IMO than the Diamine WES Imperial Blue I have (even Quink blue is better).

So for the mo I'm writing in blue until I exhaust the cartridge, whereupon I'll refill with the syringe in another colour. misterh has sent a few samples to me. Thanks.

Another good thing about Pilot Blue is the water resistance wink.gif

Actually, their capacity is identical - 0.5ml. smile.gif

The CON-20 is just much more compact and nicer to use, fill and re-fill.

I bought a Write-Fill kit a couple of years back - a wonderful thing, because I have been unable to obtain any syringe tips here in AU, without difficulty.

I'm in Pennsylvania...I just received a couple of syringes in the mail...I ordered them from a pet catalog and there were no questions asked and no problems encountered. (I was ordering a couple of toys for the pooch anyway)

I bought something called an "ear syringe" off the shelf at a pharmacy in AU. It doesn't have a needle, but the plastic opening is narrow enough to work beautifully to refill my Sailor cartridges. It fits like it was made for them. I haven't tried it with any other carts though.
Mr Blonde
Does anyone here have any experience of filling a Capless/Vanishing Point with a Visconti Travelling Ink Pot? I would like to know if it is clean or messy, and also how many fills of the converter can you get from one full Ink Pot?

Thanks,

Mr B.

EDIT - Looking more carefully I am not even sure if you can even use a travelling ink pot with the converter on the Capless... Does anyone know for certain?

I don't know the answer myself, but you might want to have a look at the comments in this thread, if you haven't already : http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=55398
