I just purchased a Sailor Sapporo pink fountain pen! I'm really happy with it.
The only thing to do now is find the right ink for this pen.
I'd like to stick with Noodler's because this is the easiest to get for me.

I'm thinking of a pink or purple ink. I'd like to also use it at the office, but not for official papers, just to take notes and such.
Maybe one of the new Baystate inks? Or Purple Wampum or Purple Martin??

There are so many colors that I don't know what colors exist and what to buy. Plaese give me some advice!

Purple Wampum is a great colour. I haven't tried Purple Martin, but I think it's been scanned and reviewed (along with Wampum) in the ink reviews section. Given the light colour of your new pen, you might want to think twice about the Baystate range, as some people have reported staining issues.

Hi Ellen,

Congratulations!, is a beautiful pen,

I haven't used Baystate Concord Grape (maybe sometime I will do) nor Baystate Cop Cranberry. both look pretty in the pictures.

oh, congratulations! I so covet the new Sapporos!

Well, for pink, there's J. Herbin cyclamen Rose, which is a deep, intense, magenta pink. I have a scan of it in the review section. I use it for editing - to be honest it kind of hurts to read a whole page of it biggrin.gif

I love purples and there's plenty of good ones. J. Herbin Violette Pensee and Sheaffer Skrip Purple are both on the blue side of violet and not overly intense. There's scans of these around, too. At the moment I'm using Diamine Imperial Purple, which is a little redder. It took me a while to get used to it, but I'm starting to really like it now.

Or you could go for a really contrasty color to the pen and use turquoise - there's plenty of threads on turquoise here.

eta: Ooops! I just realized you said you preferred Noodlers. Try do to a search for Deirdre's ink scans. I think she has every Noodler's Ink she could get from the States lticaptd.gif and her samples have some wonderful pinks and purples - especially the Russian Eternal series.

If'n you wanna stick with Noodler's, consider Saguaro Wine. Beautiful color, very similar to J. Herbin's Rose Cyclamen but a bit richer.

Purple Martin is a nice, understated purple. It's dark but has nice shading and is sort of a "vintage-y" shade. I'd say it's purple with a gray or black undertone for lack of better words on this headachy day.

I am a huge fan of the classic Pink/Brown combination. Try a Noodler's Beaver or Kiowa Pecan. (My favorite is Waterman Havana Brown). Wow!! What a retro and classy look!!

How about Diamine Cerise? It's an eye-popping pink smile.gif

I think Noodler's Kuprin is just the thing.

It's available at Pendemonium and is bulletproof. In my experience (quite limited with some of the Russian inks), it's very well behaved.

Congratulations on your pink Sapporo! I have one and I love it. I've always kept mind filled with Diamine Scarlet (which actually is a lovely pink), although I've thought how nice Purple Wampum would look, too. I hadn't thought about brown ink with the pink Sapporo until I read this thread--that would be a pleasing combo.
Ellen
Thanks for all your suggestions!

I'll definitly look into Noodler's Kuprin then.

I also never thought about the pink/brown combo. Still don't know if I'll like that, but I have a bottle of beaver here, so I'll try that out.
The turqoise suggestion is also interesting; maybe I'll get a bottle of Dostoevsky to try. If I don't like it in the Sapporo I can use it in one of my Pelikans.

Any more suggestions??

I have several of the Russian Authors inks - be aware that most feather considerably. sad.gif

Levenger Pinkly is another beautiful and vibrant pink, and I would second the suggestion for Saguaro Wine and Diamine Cerise also.

R&K Solferino or Magenta would be nice too! smile.gif

Thanks, I'll look into that.

I get my pen from Melspens on ebay, maybe they can get you an orange one (no orange listed yet, but who knows...)

Mel doesn't list them. Contact her directly via email (it's on the site) I think it's sales@melpens.com but won't swear to it.

I second Saguaro Wine, it is a deep rich dark pink.
