I was at my local BM pen shop and reserved one of the new M800 demonstators sight unseen. Has anyone seen one? I understand there is the traditional demonstrator (I believe clear), but also another more expensive version that has the parts of the pen "labeled". Since I haven't seen it I assume the writing will be engraved, but I am really curious how they are going to pull this off.
I haven't seen either pen so I cannot answer any questions and am still a bit skeptical. So, I thought I would reach out and see if anyone else has heard anything.
Anyone know anything?
BTW, the owner said he expects delivery of these by the end of June.

I too am desperate for information about this pen. If it's real, and half as cool as I'm imagining, I'm definitely buying it. The priciest pen I have right now is a Lamy 2000 so getting this 800 would be a big deal for me. I think I'm going to email Chartpak and see if they'll give me any info.

I emailed them but have not received a response. I'm still holding out hope that maybe they'll get back to me.

Click to view attachmentI just got a pic from a Chinese pen forum. It's the engraved version of M800.
As far as those who got the inside info from the factory said, there will be two versions, which is the same as other FPNers just pointed out.
The engraved one will be a little more expensive than the regular one, and both of them only come with colour transparent.
The engraved one might be launched earlier than the other one, and both of them are one-time-production only.( means only produed for certain time period, just like the city series, but not LE)
And the last, the price of the demo may be very similar to the regular version.

I think the gold is better on the demonstrater because it matches well, color wise, to the internal brass works. The silver trim would clash to me. But that's just me!

I'd prefer a transparent dark colored demonstrator like the blue ocean, because a demo with a clear (without color) transparent cap is going to demonstrate very clearly every spec of dust and ink, condensation, scratches and grime -- if you care about those things.

Hmmm. I think I may be choosing the un-engraved model. I don't like their choice of type face or how it is laid out.

Gold and clear plastic, IMO, deserves to be filled with a dark green ink link Hunter Green.
As the saying goes, the color of gold and the green and white of money.

So some of these are actually going to have the parts labelled by engraving? Or did I read this incorrectly?
Is the idea that originally demonstrators were labelled because they were used as advertisements rather than as regular production models and therefore a labelled modern demo is sort of historically true?
I may well be the only one, but the idea of carrying around for daily use a pen with the parts labelled seems a bit...odd. I guess I should know better than to say that, as clearly one person's dream pen is another person's nightmare pen.

I would like to see a larger picture of the engraved pen. The writing looks much too clean to be actually on the pen - it looks like it was photoshopped. If it's real then they've filled the engraving with white paint to make the writing stand out like it does.
If it does look like that, it's on my shopping list!!!

Until it comes to cleaning it! I'm having hassles cleaning my recently green inked M205!

Just for the record, I finally heard back from Chartpak and they gave me a little info concerning the M800 demo. Here's what they said:
date Tue, Jul 1, 2008 at 4:27 PM
subject Re: M800 Demonstrator
Shipment was delaid to Sept. 1st launch we'll see our shipment around 9/10
Actually two options clear (completely like the M200 Demo that they did a couple years ago) and a clear with engraving. No tint, no. Same cost as other 800's yes.
Love to attach pictures, but none releaseable yet, sorry.
