I have a 1990s Parker Duofold in black and gold. Over time the gold colour has come away from the band at the top of the pen, next to the nib, leaving it a less attractive dull, base metal colour. This seems to have happened as a result of wiping ink away from the nib area. I have only ever used Parker ink and cartridges. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there anything that can be done to fix it?
The metal areas below the nib often get worn by general use and corroded by ink. This happens to Pelikans and Platinums, too, and it is a going concern. I'm sure these metal rings can be replaced - you might want to contact Parker. Personally, I think the wear adds character.
On a side note, this thread should be moved to the Writing Instruments or Repair Q&A forum for better results.
Best,
