Hi. I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I have been writing with fountain pens from about 25 years now. I got started with cheap Sheaffer and Parker cartridge pens back when I was in junior high school. I got my first nice pen about 15 years ago. I have Cross Townsend, Pelikan 400, Pelikan 800, Conklin Mark Twain Crescent, Sheaffer Balance, Waterman Phileas modern pens. I also have 2 Parker 51's and a Wahl-Eversharp Skyliner. I bought most of my modern pens from a store that has since gone out of business. Now it looks like I will need to buy pens and ink on-line, as there are no stores in town that sell them. I decided to join so I can find out more about where to buy pens and ink. Plus, I want to learn more about the hobby.

Welcome Laura. Plenty of helpful information on this forum. For my part, I tend to buy most of my pens, inks, and paper online. Just a few of the trustworthy online vendors I've purchased pens from are:

Oscar Braun

Pear Tree Pen Company

Swisher Pens

Pendemonium

In addition, pen shows are great places to buy pens and pen-related merchandise. My wife and I went to the Ohio Pen Show in Columbus last year, and had a great time.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the information on the pen club. I am not sure that I will be able to make it to Youngstown since I am going to school, but I will keep it in mind.

Welcome to FPN, Laura.

Welcome, Laura. Ohio is the first place I can remember - my dad was stationed in Tiffen and Toledo as an Air Force recruiter.

In addition to RayMan's list, I can add that I have had good experiences with Richard's Pens. The best part of that is that Richard is a "nib meister" so all the pens he sells go in the mail having been tested, smoothed and adjusted in necessary.

Welcome!

Nice collection of pens you have there. I think the only one we have in common is the Waterman Phileas. thumbup.gif

Laura -

Welcome. If you can make down to the Akron area, I believe we are having the next meeting in this area (actually Green, but it's close enough). There will be a posting here about the time and all of that fun information. How do you like your Mark Twain Crescent? I have been looking at those for quite some time.

Cheers,

John

Hi! I am always acquiring more pens, so maybe I will get some others that you also have. The Waterman Phileas is a nice writer for the price.

Thanks, John. Akron is closer, so I may be able to make it to that meeting. Please send me a PM when the meeting is coming up. Depending on my schedule and exams, I may be able to attend.

I like the Mark Twain Crescent. The crescent filling system is great. Plus, the pen cannot roll off my desk even if the cap is not posted. It has a nice solid feel to it, but it is not too heavy. I prefer larger pens since I have big hands for a woman.

Laura- first , welcome to FPN.
However, please make sure that you visit the Ohio Pen Show- it held in Dublin,OH, during the first weekend of November. It is one of the best pen shows.

Unfortunately, I do not think they will be going where we want them to this season. crybaby.gif

All should be fine in Penville, though!

Hi, Mike. It is a pleasure to meet you. I wish I was over in Germany. I could pick up some more of my favourite pens (Pelikan)!

Thank you! I have been collecting a long time, but I do not know much about different brands of ink. I am already learning about the ink from posts here.

I have also discovered some new pens that I will be adding to my collection soon.
