I am travelling to Osaka and Kyoto on holidays in a month or two and was wondering if anyone knew any good pen stores or other places of pen interest in that area?

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

in Osaka is Morita: http://www.morita.ne.jp . They even have their own Sailor Professional Gear edition: http://www.morita.ne.jp/hikkigu/sailor/pro...ta-original.htm .

Nelson

Outside of antique shops, one of the shops I know of in Kyoto is located about six blocks from the train station. I do not remember the name of the shop but it is on the major east-west street just before you get to the big temples. It's about four blocks west of the street in front of the train station. Sorry, but that's all I can do for directions at the moment.

It is run by an elderly woman and the shop has been there for ages. She will let you try out every simple pen in the place, time permitting. Unfortunately, she only sells at full price. There are occasional sales and she does seem to have a large supply of Kato Seisakusho models.

There is another shop but, without a cab driver, cannot tell you how to get there.

I agree that Morita is a good place to visit, but remember to take cash with you. They don't take CC.

It's not difficult to find stores that sells pens in Japan - large department stores and bookstores usually carry pens. But those stores don't discount much.

There was another thread about Osaka Kyoto recently. When I find the link I will post the link.

You might also try Russ Stutler's website as well. Sometimes he has suggestions of places to go as well.

Hope that helps.
