Hello everyone,

I just wanted to ask a quick question. A friend of mine wants to sell me his Starwalker fountain pen. However he cannot tell me for sure what size the nib is. He has all of the paperwork. How can we tell what size the nib is (fine, medium or large). Thanks.

One can't. One just can guess the nib size. Montblanc nibs are inidvidually grinded by hand and there is no mark or engravement on the nibs.

Take it to:

1. A MB boutique, have them help you, or
2. a pen store where someone who knows can help you estimate.

Antonio...
If your friend has all of the paperwork does he have anything with the pen's identification number on it? If so, what is that number? If not, did he keep the little letter sticker that would have been attached to the barrel of the pen (usually a black letter on a silver background)?

I agree with jmkeuning above. Bring it into the boutique to have it checked out. If not, write with it and make a good guess. Anyways, you're the one buying it. Try it out. If you like it, buy it. Who cares what nib size it is; if it suits you, it doesn't matter if its a BB or an EF.
Enjoy!
