What is this pen really worth?
"OMAS Ogiva Vision Demonstrator Fountain Pen - Gold Trim" "The pen has an unusual 18K BB nib custom tuned by John Mottishaw so it is unbelievably smooth and writes like a dream."

Obviously I'll figure in how much I really want a demonstrator to house my White Whale ink, but I don't want to go crazy. What is this really worth in terms of other sales and what I might resell it for?

Including the customized nib?

When was it sold (you used the past tense)?
Immoteus
I believe the Ogiva Vision was a Limited Edition pen sold in 2005 or 2006. As for the cost of the pen including the services of a nibmeister, it could be slightly to well past the 300 mark depending on the services rendered.

I'm not sure I'd classify a nib that's been "tuned" by a nibmeister like John Mottishaw as "customized." In my lexicon, a "customized" nib is one that's been re-ground into an italic or stub or the like. Although I can see how others may disagree.

This pen is worth 200$.
If you really want it you can go up to 250$ anything above it is above market value.
These pens do come up on the marketplace every so often and usualy will go for around the 200$.

I bought the regular black Ogiva few months ago and these nibs are amazing weather are tuned by a nib master or not.

I was thinking the same thing, James. It should also be noted that John doesn't charge for this sort of tuning, so the price of the pen shouldn't necessarily be higher because the nib has been tuned. As goodguy noted, I don't think I'd go higher than $200 or so for this Ogiva.

So the "tuning" is basically making sure it is straight and whatnot before shipping? Like a good brand pen needs that? And it was included as part of buying from him, so it's not costly like "customized" nibs.

Thanks for reporting on trends and history. I'm new at this.

Well no one bid on it first time around so you could have got it for $29.99. Now that it's been publicized and relisted, you may end up paying $200!

No, he pulled the auction shortly after starting because he listed it as C/C, and it's actually a piston. The auction had just started.

You'd better REALLY love BB nibs because I'm a B nib lover and my 360 with a B nib writes closer to BB.
Martius
Anything below $150 and anything above $200 would be out of the ordinary. Expect it to get above $200 on eBay, though, because people are crazy.

As Ghost said, Omas B nibs are exceptionally wide and wet. You better be ready to use a bold hand with this one. At least it's a piston filler so you don't have to refill every 6 words. smile.gif

Crazy; and I must be one of them. I looked at bidding history and people seemed not to be shills as they have been around for years and buy from multiple sellers -- unless there are "pro" shills? Anyway, I can expect a certain amount of the same if/when I sell it again.
