Has anyone mixed Waterman South Seas Blue with Purple? Richard Binder mentions using Florida Blue with Purple for a Tanzanite color. Just wondering about using South Seas Blue instead.

Thanks,

Mixing a little Waterman Purple into their South Seas Blue was my first ink recipe, and it is still one of my favourite blues. I don't use it so much since I discovered that Diamine Mediterranean Blue gives something of the same sort of tone. But I still use this mix when I am in more of a purple mood than can be satisfied by the Diamine blue. I'm not mad keen on W South Seas Blue by itself ... it's okay for editing, but it makes my eyes go funny to look at a whole page of it. But I keep the bottle just because of how gorgeous it becomes when a little Waterman Purple is added.

Give it a try and see what you think. My preference is for just a little purple added to the blue, just to give it a little more depth and boldness.

I'd love to see a scan . . .

Okay, never tried to get an accurate ink scan before but I'll give it a go. It will have to wait until my friend with a scanner gets back into the same hemisphere as me next week, though - unless I break into his house, of course. But I'm guessing you're not quite in that much of a hurry. smile.gif

No, I'm not, so take your time!! Although an ink-scan-related break-in does sound interesting . . . wink.gif
Have you ever mixed both inks 1:1?
Thank you in advance for the scan!!
