Thats really big and nice........................200 pens?
Now you need to buy lots of pens to fill it up,i.e.if you already don't have so many!!
Dude where did you find that?? I have been looking for something like that for a while.
Cheers,

The trays I made up hold 3 across and 13 deep so 351 pens in total. I only have 5 filled right now but working hard on the last 4 lol. I made up a metal stand with adjustable feet on it as I live in a very old house and there is a half inch from the back to front so I have to be able to level it off. I will try to get some completed pics done up.

Gotta love the auctions. In Cambridge there is an antique mall and there was a nice looking one there that was about chest height. At only about 400 I think. Also check out Waterloo antique warehouse I think I seen some there.

That looks like the small parts drawers in my dad's first business! I remember stocking them after school (I was about 6 years old). What are these drawers configured for?

Paperwork I think as they were divided in the middle and each side had two finger holes to push up from the bottom to remove paper?????

That was my first thought too. If I had room for one, I'd get one. They're just cool, period. This is an authentic Hamilton and would make a fabulous pen center with just a little cleaning.

Click to view attachmentBest thing I have found for cleaning is turpentine and double boiled linseed oil and 0000 steel wool. Dip the steel wool into the equal parts of the two and scrub it down and wipe off the wood. Dispose of all old rags in water so they don't catch fire.

There are plenty of these types of cabinets available in the market - just search Google for "flat file cabinet".
I believe they are used for storing paper/paintings/drawings by artists/architects etc - anyone who uses large sheets of paper and doesn't want to roll them.

They seem obscenely expensive though >$500

That is just great.
How did you make the forms for the drawers were the pens rest?
I live in a old craftsman style home that is over 100 years old. We have a few pieces like that and just never thought about using them for my pens. Then again, I don't have that many pens. Quite a collection you have. Thanks for sharing.

I used 1/4 mdf with a 3/4 round bottom router bit and cut the slots where I wanted them. Took about 3 hours to do them all.
Gotta love old money pits or I mean old houses lol. Mine is circa 1877. Nothing level which is why I have all 4 legs on my metal base so that they screw in and out. I made the base so it did not have to sit on a desk or the floor. One thing about these pen cases, my wife is convinced that they are breeding when I shut the drawer. Sort of scary to see them all in one place. I just hope she doesn't find the trunk full in the garage.
Cheers
