Hi!
I'm new to this board and the hobby of fountain pen collecting... well, kinda. I've always had a thing about pens, fountain pens in particular - but I just recently started looking into vintage pens and higher quality pens, having previously only used the types you can find at a typical arts/crafts store.
I must say, there are a lot more people involved in this hobby than I ever suspected!
Anyway, I'm glad to have found this board and look forward to learning from all those who know so much more than I!

The worst thing about this forum is that once you've started collecting FPs, you can't stop...
Oh well, there are worse things in life....................

Hi Gooddog, nice to meet you! I'm sure you'll blend in fine here. There are lots of people here to speak to and ask questions of. Everyone from students to teachers to writers, pen-repairers, lawyers, antiques dealers, police-officers, muscians...and we all use fountain pens. Most of us (myself included) use them exclusively.

Welcome to FPN gooddog. Fountain pens are facinating and I was delighted to find this site and be able to share my interest with others. The great thing about this site is that you can ask whatever you want about fountain pens and inks, and there will always be friendly like minded people only too happy to supply answers.
Enjoy your hobby

I use them
almost exclusively... I would use nothing else, but I'm required at work to occasionally fill out carbons - some of them with 5 copies - and I hate to put that much pressure on my nibs.

Welcome aboard!
I confess I have to keep a ballpoint or two around for the purposes of signing those annoying receipt slips.
Though even with them, my signature has improved since I started writing almost exclusively with fountain pens.

Aw... that just sortv makes you automatically good... like fire fighters.
By the way, your skills might be appreciated in the currently-disappeared Chatter forum.
(I hope it comes back.)

These are a few of my favorites...
The "desk set" pens are both snorkel Schaeffers. The lever filler w/matching pencil is an old Linden, and the dip pen was made by Sengbusch to go with their "Self-Closing Inkstand."
The dip pen is the smoothest writer in the group, although the line is a bit heavier than I like for constant use. The Linden hasn't been restored yet, but both of the Schaeffers are good writers. Most of the time I use Schaeffer's UltraBlack ink, which is what is in the glass inkwell.

I like my dip pens, but sometimes I'm just too lazy for them.

Welcome to FPN. Nice things on your desk. I noticed that your venetian blinds are facing your garden. I always keep mine facing into the room but I have always wondered which way was the "right" way! You are so considerate to give your neighbors the nicer view!

I usually turn the blinds the other way, but the sun was glaring pretty badly when I took that photo.
