Full Version: Dollar Pens; Demi vs. Full Sized

I have won several dollar pens on fleabay recently but have only received one so far. My first dollar pen is a later style clip in green and surprised me by how similar in size and length is was to my sj. A brief scan at Esterbrook.net suggests that there are indeed two sizes of dollar pens but since the photos are taken with different magnifications/ distances it's hard to get a good view of a demi dollar v. a full sized dollar. Does anyone have a photo of these two sizes side by side in the same frame? Is there a similar situation with the V-clip models?

Okay, I spoke too soon. I guess I had misread the captions over at Esterbrook.net. So there are actually 3 sizes of Dollar pens much is the same vein as the J, LJ, SJ in the later jewelled models. I had what I thought was the largest size now I see by comparing to a couple of recent acquisisitons that I must actually have the middle size and two even smaller examples.

Heres what I have gathered so far...

A full size pen will have the same diameter and larger metal clip button of the middle size
A middle size pen will just be shorter bodied but have the same height cap &
A demi size pen will have a smaller diameter and a smaller metal clip button and a shorter length than either of the other two pens

Is this correct, does anyone have a shot of all three size dollar pens together? Sorry for the confusion, I am still very much a Estie Noob...

Sizes of Esterbrooks is a common question.

Some data can be found in this post and this post.

I also summarized the sizes in another post or an email but I can't find it right now.

Enjoy the Esties.

That would be a $1.50 pen.

See Brian Anderson's site.

It would be the $1.50 but the pierced holes in the clip are a little different than what is on Brians site. Said pen is one of the first few Esterbrooks I ever got and for the life of me I can't remember if it was a gift or I actually bought it. The nib is a 2442.
