Hi,

On behalf of FPN, I would like to welcome to the ink exchange program. Ever buy a bottle of ink and discover that you hated the color, it didn't work in your pen, didn't dry fast enough, or just stained every pen it touched? This program allows you to try the ink in your pen and see how it behaves on paper.

To start, you need vials which I can provide to you at 10c a piece+postage, handling, and Paypal fees (if you used PaypalーI sell these at cost, so I have to charge these to offset costs)

Once you have your vials, you can put up a list of the inks you would like to trade. If you see that someone else has an ink you like, send them a personal message politely asking if they are interested in any of your inks and would like to trade inks with you. Once you have reached an agreement, put 5 ml of ink in a vial, cap it, label it (Important! They may have other vials with ink in them in their stash, and a label allows them to identify the ink you have sent.), drop it into a padded mailer (no other padding is required), and send. It's a classy thing to include a note expressing your thanks, but this is not necessary.

Note: you can also trade things other than vials of inkーif the other person agrees. Paper samples, ink cartridges, are all nice, but other things can also be traded.
Have fun trading!

Don't forget the 5¢ lid to go with it!

Thanks for helping make this possible, Dillo.

You're messing with me right? The lid comes with it at no extra cost. tongue.gif

If you want to participate in the ink sample exchanges, don't post your request in this thread!!!

We have a pinned topic/thread at the top of this forum in which the exchange lists appear: Ink Sample Exchange...a.k.a. The KCat System. smile.gif

Thanks,
Ann

No, I'm not messing.

On April 27 you wrote,

The vials cost 10¢ each, beads cost 5¢ each. Just give me your address, and when you get them, add the price of the vials to the price of postage that is indicated on the label. smile.gif Add $1 to the whole price for packing and add another $1 if you are using Paypal. (This is only because the vials are sold at cost.)

and I paid you 15¢ per unit plus stated shipping plus $2.

After getting them, I figured out that "beads" meant "lids".

Is there some mistake?

Yes, there has been some mistake. The cost for vials are 10c not 15c. (I'll be earning a lot of money from the sale of vials if that was the case) I'll have to check my records and I'll have to take care of that. Beads are glass beads that keep the ink from sticking to the converter walls.

I got your PM.

What do you sell the beads for? I see some converters have beads or metal coils, but don't see how to change one.

Hi,

You unscrew the ferrule of the converter then pull out the mechanism. Drop a bead into the converter, push the mechanism back in, and screw the ferrule back on.

Interesting. The converters I've seen don't come apart that I've seen. I'll have to take a closer look at some. Note that a Hero pen with twist filler converter cost less than just a converter for a Lamy, so maybe the former is more likely to use welded plastic assembly.
