do anybody knows anything about the nibs of the vanishing point. is it an standart medium size the same as lets say the same medium on any other brand... are japanese nibs different from other brands... want to get a medium nib vanishing point but not sure if it will be too fine or too think.

The nibs on them are more narrow than most. So, if you want a fine point order a medium etc.

Well, Japanese nibs are said to be thiner than the Western ones, like Japanese M is like Western F... But it still depends from brands to brands and even within brands (it's not unusual to hear about a Lamy 2000 XF which write like a Pelikan M biggrin.gif )

You might want to check the FP Review forum, their might be some writing samples of Vanishing Point there wink.gif

I have two VPs with medium nibs that I consider "true" mediums (whatever that means).

I am reliably informed that the fine nibs are more like an American or European XF.

In my experience, the Fine is a Japanese Fine (Western EF).
The medium is a little narrow, but pretty close to a Western Medium. It's like a Lamy Fine.

I second that. I found the medium to be a little wider than expected, compared to the usual Japanese medium, and very close to a Western medium. Excellent nib, regardless of nib size. It's amazing how well this small nib performs. I like the slight spring to it, which is something you can't get from a Parker 51 (a slightly smaller nib in comparison).

They are also a bit dryer than most Western nibs, but quite in line with the 5/10 flow of most Japanese nibs. If you want a VP nib that has Western-style wetness, you might want to order from a nibmeister's shop and have them customize it to suit you.

slightly OT...the beauty of VP nibs are that they are interchangable. If you don't like the current one you can always get a nib replacement at about $25. I have several nib sizes (F,M,B, italic, Oblique).
