Hi,

I have noticed that the hard rubber at the grip section and turn knob of my pelikan 1931 LE was discoloured. This was due to perhaps exposure to the lights. I have placed the pen in the my display cabinet with lights on (when required).

The rubber parts are not anymore shining and parts of the grip section will change to brownish colour when used.

Is there anyway for the pen to return to its original black colour or to make it shine back?

Thanks for the help. rolleyes.gif

This is why you don't put hard rubber in display cabinets.

Deirdre, I think the OP probably realizes that now. That doesn't do much to help him/her address the problem, though.

There are a couple of pen repair people here in the US who can re-blacken discolored hard rubber. Richard Binder is one who definitely offers the service. Daniel Kirchheimer does as well. I've also seen home remedies for this problem, but none is a permanent fix in the way that G-10 (the product used to re-blacken hard rubber) is.

Best,
David
