Great post, girlieg33k! Sapphire Blue, Aubergine, and Coffee leap out at me. thumbup.gif

The Sapphire Blue looks like it might have potential. How does it compare to Diamine's ink with the same name?

Just a little remark:

These wine inks are not "wine scented" but made out of real wines. smile.gif

So.... do they get better with age?

I haven't filled a pen with Sapphire Blue yet -- but going by the swab sample, it has great potential. I'll do a full review of each colour, when time allows.

However, I filled an OMAS Bologna with the Dark Blue. It is, by far, the closest ink I've seen that resembles Dupont Blue Black. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison yet, and only had occasion to write with it only a few pages, but the colour (by itself) is a nice deep navy blue.

I didn't want to encourage people to drink it. These are the real thing, going by the scents. Yum! wink.gif

Oh, now that's promising. Is there some shading with the Dark Blue, Kate? Thanks,
David

There is some shading with De Atramentis Dark Blue, but it's not as pronounce as Dupont Blue Black. It's one of the things I noticed right off. I also noticed that DA Dark Blue does not dry as quickly as Dupont Blue Black. However, the colours look very similar.

I'm going to be filling more pens later this evening for a new rotation. Right now DA Dark Blue is filled in an Omas Bologna (F nib). I have another Omas Bologna (also F nib) and I'm going to fill it with Dupont Blue Black. This way I can do side by side comparisons. I may fill pens with italic nibs as well.

Also, for anyone who might be interested in the scented inks, unlike other scented inks that I've tried (and I've not tried many), the scents in the DA inks stay on the page. The wines and coffee both smell drinkable even on the page. And, I love the Ylang-Ylang; I have it filled in the smaller Danitrio Cumlaude now. I'm tempted to start dabbing it all over myself because smells that good. smile.gif

Please add a water-resistance test to your always thorough analyses.

This is great news! Dupont Blue Black is one of my favorites.

Yay, thank you for posting these swabs! My biggest interest in the DA inks are the scented ones, and I was wondering how the fragrance holds up.

Hehe! I think DA also makes perfumed inks as well- as in, the inks are scented with popular perfume fragrances, such as Chanel No. 5, etc.

No problem with clogging or anything like that? I thought I had read that scented inks and FPs did not necessarily get along very well...

Thanks for posting these samples, girlieg33k! I've wondered about De Atramentis, but haven't had the chance to try any of them. The combination of a Latin name and inks that have the scents of wine and coffee suggest greatness -- or at least imagination.

Great scans and great addition. Thanks!

Well, okay, but you might want to wait until you get home, first.

I'm not allowed to use anything scented away from home? huh.gif

Just an update, I'm using several of the DA inks for the next two weeks. After the rotation, I'll do full reviews of each colour.

Girlie,

My edit of your quote zeroed in on the wine-scented stuff. I can see it now, "....but the odor of alcoholic beverage is from my ink, Officer, from my ink!" "Right, lady. Ink. Now, just walk this line, heel to toe, please."

If I dab enough wine-coloured ink on myself that an officer can smell it, I reckon walking the line would be the least of my troubles. Let's just hope I'm not pulled over in Philly where I'd be face down on the macadam, assuming the position, while being pummeled like a grape. Oops, I'm not in Chatter am I? My bad...
