Can anyone tell me if this Cross pen has a style name? It cannot be latter than 1968. It was my great uncle’s so it could be 1950’s – except I do not know if Cross was making ballpoints in the 1950’s.
Anyway, I compared it to a Century model from the 1970’s and it is just the tiniest bit shorter. The black tip at the top is also smaller. Plus, the decoration on the silver is different. All of the line decoration is vertical – 3 lines and then a space, repeated over the pen. A later Century has horizontal and vertical line décor.
This pen measures approx. 5 3/16ths inches. A Century pen from the 1970’s, plus the Century pencil (not sterling) that I found it with is just a tiny bit longer at 5 1/4th inches.
I was having a hard time measuring the circumference. With my measuring it turns out to be approx. 1 inch – the same as the 1970’s Century, but in just looking at it, it appears just the tiniest bit wider.
The clip states: Cross. At the top, just below the black tip it states: Sterling Made in U.S.A. It also has 3 engraved initials on the side of the pen.
Any help would be appreciated. Can you tell anything from my photos?

Here I tried to show you comparing a vintage Century model that is not Sterling.

(I also have some pencil questions, but I thought I would start another thread for that one. I can’t figure out how it works!)
