I've decided to wade into the pool here, and stop reading from the sidelines. The posts at FPN have provided me with so much helpful information. Thank you all for that.
My first fountain pens were those leaky cartridge versions I was given when I was a kid. And so my aversion to FPs was born. Over the years, I've ceased to be a, uh, disposable baby, and try to keep the goods I purchase for long term use. Hence, my inevitable return to fountain pens.
I have two fountain pens that I like very much.
One is a Papermate, an homage to my favorite ballpoint pens I used to swipe from my dad.
The other is an Esterbrook SJ, that I bought from someone here at FPN in the marketplace. I would never have considered an Esterbrook had I not read posts here which suggested them as an entry level pen. I'm very happy with this pen!
My current inks are Noodler's: Baystate Blue, and Zhivago. Like 'em both.
My personal preference is for slim pens, as I have a small hand. Something like the Sailor Chalana is too slim. The SJ and the Papermate fit me perfectly.
I have been looking at old Waterman 52's, and may dive further into the waters with one of those.
My SO has just busted me for not working, so I must get back to it! I look forward to getting to know some of you here.
Cheers,
Julie

Welcome!
Take a look at the Pelikan M200 and M400 - nice slim pens but not exceptionally so.

Thanks kindly. This may be the most civil forum I've been part of since...very early internet days!

Greetings and welcome Julie from New York City!

If you like slim pens, check out the Yard-O-Led Viceroy Victorian standard size. I bought one several months ago and it is wonderful!

Greetings from a hoosier born, now in PA,
I'm a newcomer myself. And yes, this is a rather polite board. It makes a nice change of pace. As you can see from my username, I like slim pens too. I have a Sailor Chalana on the way, and I don't think it will be too skinny. I have an Ohto Tasche pen that is a little bit bigger per the specs. You might try it or the Ohto Fine also. They're also easy on the wallet and work well for everyday pens.
See you around the boards!
