After reading most of the old threads on these two, I'm leaning towards the 1911M. However, I read something about it not posting as well as the Sapporo. Is that correct and if so, is it annoying? I believe these two have the same 14K nib? I like the fact that the 1911M is slightly larger, also.
Any opinions or thoughts?
Thanks!

They both have 14 K nibs, but the one on my Sapporo is more ornate than the one on the 1911M. I have not noticed a difference how well they post, but I have to say that I very rarely post anyway, so my limited observations there are not too helpful, I'm afraid. Both excellent pens, though. I'm sure you would be happy with either. The larger size of the 1911M seems mainly a function of the conical ends, but the section grips feel the same to me.

The 1911M's longer, but the Sapporo has a nice thickness to it and seems to be about the same in length as the Pelikan M200. I have both Sailors and enjoy both.
Edited because I was mixing up pens; see below.

And to confuse you a bit more, I would like to add that the Sapporo is very comfortable and has a good diameter. Get them both

Thanks, but I want to get a Sailor and a Namiki Falcon!

It's funny, I was trying to decide between these two a few days ago! In the end, I've decided on the Sapporo (just haven't pulled the trigger yet). I figured, the two pens are basically the same, just with different bodies, and I love the rhodium and the design of the Sapporo, so that's the one for me!

Good call. I have the Falcon, too.
Last night I wrote that occasionally the cap doesn't post securely on the 1911M. That was wrong -- I was confusing it with two of my better Chinese pens. Sorry.

Ditto. No problem posting the cap at all.
This pen was a recent gift, and it is fun to use. I have Platinum black ink in it now, which has nice shading, but I am considering using a
black black if I am going to write music with it.* Thoughts?
Fred
* Of course, that begs the question whether I will write music with it. It's not likely.

Yes, yes! Get Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black! It's an amazing "color" - the black is really shiny and would make your notes stand out.
BTW, just purchased a Sapporo on FPN Marketplace and so now I can really compare my Sailor 1991M with the Sapporo (and I'm using my Namiki Falcon - great pen! - right now!!!) I'm excited!!!

Aurora black...
Yes, that's what I was thinking. I have four bottles; it's what I like to use in my vintage flexies.

But a fellow collector urges me to try other colors.
