I just ordered an Ultrasonic Cleaner online. From my reading, just avoid the plastic one. This is stainless steel, 44Khz, and can hold a CD/DVD to clean that. Certainly large enough for nibs!

So, what kind of cleaning solution should I use? I read that modern cleaners are formulated with surfactants and reactive agents. I had just assumed surfactant (I have Triton X-100) in distilled water.

I use clear water in my UC. If I have a particularly stubborn section/feed/nib, after a first trip through the UC, I soak it in a 10% ammonia solution for 20 or 30 minutes and then give it another two or three minutes in the UC. I don't know of any reason you shouldn't use a solution in your UC.
