When one writes with a Tibaldi pen, does it feel like the hand of God Himself is guiding your script....

...or are they comparable to a garden variety Sailor, Pelikan, etc?

Are you referring to the 90's Tibaldi? If so, they write like any other Bock-supplied pen: smooth and wet, comparable in feel and line to OMAS, Delta, and Stipula, among others. The materials and craftsmanship, on the other hand, are absolutely top-notch.

Indeed. I saw them on A. Brown, and was surprised at the price. I suppose I could rationalize 40K for a Länge Datograph, but 30K for a pen? 10, maybe even 15, but 30+?

Oh, then we're talking about two different Tibaldis. You're referring to the gaudy monstrosities the new company has been putting out. I'm talking about the gorgeous celluloid pens the 1990's iteration of the company put out (the Impero, Trasparente, Iride, etc.). I know nothing about the more recent pens, other than their outrageous prices and their (IMO) lack of aesthetic sensibility.

I have a Modello 60 with EF nib that is one of my favorites. It has the smoothest EF nib I have experienced, though that experience is limited. The nib is long and elegant with minimal engraving. The Taccia Staccato is very similar in appearance and size, but without the great celluloid and beautiful nib.

I had an EF on an Impero that was by far the best EF I've ever tried. I'm not an EF person, so I had the nib retipped and stubbed, but it was a nice writer. I think Bock's standards may have slipped, along with those of many pen companies.
