Please forgive this newbie's daft question but what is the difference between the two (apart from eighty quid and the fact that the Standard has a 14K nib compared to the Classic's 21K).

And is the Sapporo the replacement for the 1911 which looks to be OOP? I'm getting confused...need more beer. smile.gif

You might find some information to help relieve your confusion by reading this blog entry. It's a over a year old but most of the information is still relevant and accurate. Lemme know if you have any other questions. It seems that sometimes my life's mission is to un-confuse people about Sailor products! (That's Sailor's fault, by the way, not yours!)

Thanks James. I think I'm getting there. Even from only website pics these Sailor pens look very nice.

Nice blog entry!
Could you clarify the bit about the 1911M not available in Black? And not available in the Zoom nib? I just received a 1911M from Japan which is Black with a 14kt gold Zoom nib. The pen looks small, but it sure is gorgeous. I was wondering how the black plastic stands up to everyday use. Should I post or will this leave posting marks. What about keeping it in my jeans pocket? Will it get excessively scratched up?

cheers,

James,
Do you know if Sailor pens with the more exotic nibs are available in the U.S.? Are the standard 21K nibs the same as the Naginata Togi?
