After trying my first lettering test page, I found that how subtle the top and x-height lines look also depends on my work lighting! Unfortunately I had trouble with dashed/dotted lines so I have to push plain old thin/faint lines past their limit and just see how they turn out on the printer and paper combination.

So I made this test page with a variety of line widths and intensities.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know more ideas.

The poor thing is that my program was designed to generate the whole thing with reuse of single definitions, and that proved incompatible to applying different styles to each line! But I kept the old way too, so I can still generate very small PDF files with the chosen style, spacing, etc.

Here is the one I'm trying now, which is the style from Line 17, with a gauge of about 9mm: Click to view attachment
