Interested in making some ebay purchases on some Montblanc pens .... but the idea of wasting my money on a fake is daunting me .. i hate fakes and will not spend a dollar on a very well made one ..

Even the sellers with the best feedback seem questionable at times ... so please if anyone knows of a guaranteed reliable source that been proven over and over to sell authentic items ... Montbalnc pens in particular .. list the names of those sellers or your experiences .. thanks alot in advance .. bye

Kuja, I think that you might find most users here reluctant to recommend any eBay dealer to someone they don't know, and with 7 posts (as of my reply), you're a new person to FPN and the MB forum. We like having new people around here, but it sometimes takes some participation before they become part of the community.

We don't maintain a list of favored vendors in this forum, though some people may be willing to recommend an authorized dealer. Generally speaking, for current MB pens, if you're afraid of fakes, then an authorized dealer or MB Boutique is the way to go, even though the cost is higher.

People who have bought modern MB pens from eBay did some research into the seller, asked questions from them, got detailed photos, and spent a while learning the signs of fake pens (there are many threads about fakes here in the MB forum). Sellers can and do change over time, and I don't think anyone here would be willing to go on record claiming to guarantee a reliable seller. If this forum were to become a common resource for testimonials, we would surely start having falsified testimonials about shady sellers, perhaps written by the sellers themselves, and arguments over whether "guarantees" are legit or not.

Finally, choosing a large font size makes it appear as if you're shouting in your posts; you'll probably get more responses in FPN if you leave the font at the default size when writing posts.

Hi there .. thanks for your reply .... well i am sorry if it seems as if i am shouting but i think the bigger font looks nice, neater and easier to read .. that is all

I would understand how caps would make a shouting statment but i did not think the bigger font will make anyone uncomfortable ..

As for the new memeber part, everyone has to start somewhere ... as a collector .. i been a collector of pens and Montbalnc in particualr since i was 13 ... i am from Kuwait and in my country we were a formal outfit since our childhood ... with our traditional clothes .. we always carry a brand name pen in out pockets ..

it started with me wearing my dad pens to school .. his Duponts .. Montbalncs .. Cartiers and P. Chareols ..... and when i became 18 i started buying my own pens .. i have more than 50 pens now and growing .. so as a collector i am experienced but as a forum user i might be a begginer ..

In Kuwait .. we have all the brands and boutiques .. but nothing else .. no pen stores with a varied collection with savings or anything like that ... it is a rich country and the boutiques all sell for full retail with no discounts of course .. i do not mind paying full price but when i look at how much people from the USA and Europe on their pens .. i started thinking i should go online and make some purchases ..

I found some sites like Joon etc ... but some sites do not send abroad .. others cost alot if you combine with shipping so the saving are minimum so i prefer purchasing from boutiques for instant gratification ..

Only place with reasonable prices that is worth the risk is ebay .. in some really rare limited pens .. savings come to thousands of dollars at times ... but i am concerned about authenticity of course like all people .. i do not live in the USA so returns are hard ... we do not have alot of collectors here to chat and compare with ... and payments like paypal only offer protection to USA and European customers .. so that is my dillema ..

That is why i may be asking many questions .. i have no other sources and was hoping for you guys to give an insight ... if no one wants to take the risk of recommending someone i respect that .. i just thought there might be some sellers who are authorized dealers or with a wonderful reputation i can be comfortable dealing with ..

again .. sorry for the inconvenience .. and thanks for the replies anyways

P.S. sorry if my english and grammar not all that great .. it is my second language

Elavay is one of the best eBay sellers of Montblanc pens - I've bought a few from him and experienced excellent service. Don't believe this BS that you only get fakes on eBay - this is far from the case. You just have to be careful that the seller has good, long term feedback and publishes good photos of the pens.

Hi Kuja,

I'm in a similar situation to you. I'm in Ireland, and there isn't too much in the way of authorised dealers, and they don't have much of a selection when it comes to the limited editions.

I took a punt on a seller who had 100% feedback and a couple of hundred feedbacks (at that time at least). Item seems genuine, but to be honest I don't have the experience to be sure, I put a couple of questions on this forum and was reassured, but unless I brought it into a boutique I can't be positive it is genuine. However, I left positive feedback without having proof the item was in fact what it claims to be, so 100% feedback is no guarantee of authenticity.

I'm not sure if I should leave the name of the seller here due to previous comments on this thread, but you can pm me if you want the name of the ebay seller. As I said, this is only my experience and I can't even be 100% sure of what I have, so this could be advice from a grade A chump! headsmack.gif

The only way to be sure is to buy from an authorised dealer. Best of luck.
