Ok, so during my calligraphy course, last wednesday, after having 2 hours of practice with fraktur, I thought about making a logo for my blog, Lifehacker Rehashed. This is the raw scan, not photoshopped, in medium resolution, suitable for here.

This is the High-Res one. (56K WARNING, 4.4MB image)

And the final version is on my blog, here.

Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. They are, actually, encouraged. smile.gif

I like it.

Assuming you're going for a distressed look, I'd like your logo (on the blog) to be bigger so you can keep some of the distressed outlines. On the word "REHASHED," I'd increase interletter placing, and decrease the size relative to "Lifehacker."

I like it! I think because one can see the movement of the pen in the letters and through that a suggestion of an emotional intensity of the writer. The shading of the ink helps reveal the moving implement, especially in the letter series "ack" in the middle of the word. That's so effective in suggesting the word was penned rather than typeset, that it required a moving hand, an animate force to create. One sees that in Asian brush calligraphy, but less so in the Western variety. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

I went ape about it:

That's very nice. I think it actually looks even better with inverted colors, white on black.

Good work wink.gif

I like the style you have gone for, I find that distressed work is often very effective when done well. Fraktur is quite a flexible script. May I ask what nib, ink etc. you used?

Also I would be very interested in seeing more examples of your Calligraphy (especially Fraktur) in the future. biggrin.gif
