Came across this auction, and started a conversation with the seller as a few things just didn't feel right to me.

Originally I though it was just a lighting problem with the pictures showing the bottom of the pen being black - Starwalker Rubber should have a platinum bottom.

I asked the seller what markings were on the underside of the clip and I got into a pleasant back and forth:

me: Out of curiosity, is there anything printed on the underside of the clip?
seller:Theres like a serial number or something on the side top, its hard to see but a bunch of numbers and letters.
me: oh yeah, that must be the serial number on the band at the top. But if you actually look on the underside of the clip (the part of the clip thats parallel with the pen) is there anything written there?
seller:I dont think so... lol, should there be?
me:Hi there, I'm really sorry if I'm bothering you smile.gif but the writing on the underside of the clip is one of the primary indicators of an imitation. If there is nothing there, then it is most likely a replica. based on the year of manufacture it would have a word (or a few words) printed underneath. Sorry for the trouble.
seller:Well its deff not a fake, unless that store is selling replicas, lol. Also I've sent it away to Mont Blanc before because that clip thing your talking about actually broke off and the crystal at the top came off with it. They just sent me a whole new pen which is why this one is like its brand new and unused.
me:lol thanks for your patience. The clip and crystal falling off is actually a more common problem than it should be. Is the serial number printed on the side of the clip or the ring around the cap?
seller:Umm... both kinda, lol the new one has it on the clip, but the one I had sent away had it on the ring, I know this because I still have that piece. Also the original had a silver bottom, the new one is black. I just assumed that this was a new version. And it originally was the fine liner but I swapped it out for a roller ball, but they sent me a fine liner back again.
me:hey, thanks for your time. Good luck on the auction.

based on bottom being black, serial number on the clip and not the ring, and refusing to tell me what was on the underside of the clip -> red flag

I really don't have much luck with this ebay stuff. About a month ago I purchased a Chopin Platinum FP from an ebay seller in Calgary. Pen was a replica, a very good replica but a replica none the less (with a box from Gormany!) I'll post pictures soon to help others.

Trying to increase my collection, but so far I only have 1 Starwalker CoolBlue FP F-Nib using Waterman ink right now

Do yourself a favor and do not buy MBs on ebay. Spend more and buy them from authorised sellers, some of whom have pretty good prices and discounts. A bargain is just not worth it, if the pen is inauthentic. The counterfeiters are becoming quite good now, and even the typical signs of authenticity that buyers know to look for can no longer be replied on. Just leave those auctions be is my advice.

Definately good advice. My CoolBlue was from the Boutique and service was great.
The fake Chopin, I did get a full return, and also kept the fake pen.

I also would not buy MB from ebay.. I can buy ordinary parkers 51, some sheaffers but not MB .. I have purchased 2 MB during my last visit to Holland from a small shop at a very good price and no doubts they are 100% original ..Cheers

The fact that the warranty booklet is not properly filled in is a bad sign already. I've purchased from authorised dealers and official boutiques before and they are always properly filled in. That said, I'm very bad at spotting fakes and that eBay listing would've looked pretty genuine to me. tongue.gif
