So, here I am again with my lame scripts. This sample is different from the others I have posted. It's actually meant to be used, it's an invitation for our teachers to join our party in celebration of passing the high school final exams (I bet this has a name of its own in English, I just can't remember). It's unfortunately in Czech, but it's still uncial.

It's very nice! AND I can tell it's at a Mexican Restaurant... so I know 2 words in Czech so far.

Actually Mexico is spelled Mexiko in Czech, the owner of the restaurant chose the sort of original spelling Very good restaurant, to say. If you have a way through Pribor, drop in there

Ok, here comes the blasphemy. It's self-modified calligraphy nib. I took a stainless steel fine Parker nib and just ground the tipping off. The result is about 2 mm wide and a bit to my surprise, is incredibly wet and well flowing. Of course with the tipping off, the pen is not suited for normal writing. Although I of course tried it and found the experience to be quite similar to felt-tip writing instruments. I'm not sure what the lifespan of the nib would be, but as I use it only for calligraphy, it doesn't bother me at all.

But now you do know that mexiko in czech, so back to two again!

Your first attempt at uncial which you posted on 19th April, was very good and in a very short space of time, you have made great progress. This is strong, confident lettering which is very even in its construction - excellent !

You mentioned earlier, that my Uncial examples got you started on this style of script. If this is true, I am delighted to see the work you are producing in such a short space of time and am pleased to have been part of this progress.

I don't know, the uncial seems quite easy to me, much easier than blackletter for example.

Wow, that's very impressive.

I had calligraphy lessons for a few weeks back in the day.... I just didn't have the patience or desire to practice.

I might be rethinking my stance on that...

Apparently, Blackletter is supposed to be the easiest script to learn whilst Copperplate & Spencerian are the most difficult. Uncial comes next to Copperplate as difficult with Italic next in line.....at least , that is my understanding after many years of reading about the subject, but everyone will have his/her own opinion - as it should be!

When you say "final exams" do you mean that you are now done with high school completely, or just for the year?
If it's completely done, we call that "graduation" or "commencement." If it's just for the year, here in the US that's just referred to as "passing your finals."

I'm finishing high school entirely. Hopefully in September I'll start to study at the university.
