Hi to all,

This is my first attempt to put a new sac on a pen. I studied the charts at pensac.com and other sources, but can't figure the right size for the smaller, 3 1/8" Wahl metal, #0 nib ringtop. I'm hoping someone can tell me the correct size to order.

I also need a sac for a larger, 3 5/8" Wahl metal, #2 nib ringtop. The charts say that 17 1/2 - 1 11/16 Necked is correct for a 3 3/4" metal Wahl. My #2 ringtop came with a straight sac that had a hole. I glued the hole shut with super glue and it works fine. I would like to get a new sac that is straight like the one on it now, not necked, but don't know what size to order.

Please tell me what size sacs might work. I would gladly order several to get the right ones, but need to know the range of sac sizes to order for the two pens.

Thanks very much for your help.

Depending on the stoutness of the presser bar which on early models can be thick,
The correct size for the miniature (0) nib pen would be 14
The correct size for the #2 ringtop would be 17.5
For what it is worth, Sac size numbers are nothing more than the diameter of the sac expressed in 64th of an inch. So a Sac #17 is 17/64" in diameter. And a #20 is 20/64ths or 5/16". Thus you can estimate the right size sac by measuring the inside diameter of the barrel and maybe backing down perhaps 1 or 2 64ths to allow for the presser bar and to give some wiggle room for the sac.

Hi Syd,

Thank you very much. That is exactly the information I needed.

I first tried to find it by searching here and in repair, but had no luck, so know your good explanation of how to figure sac size will help others as well.

This is a great forum!

Best wishes,
Patv
