Beautiful. Love the background too... and not just because my middle name is Daniel.

Of all the black & pearl/nacre pens that have landed on my desk an OS Balance has yet to appear.
Very nice: do you use it for marginalia?

Thanks to you both.
I don't use it for marginalia, as even fine stubs are fairly fat. This one is a more of a letter-writing pen, or perhaps an introspective musings-type pen. One of those pens that you never really use in public; more of a quiet time pen.
Actually, for marginalia, I often use a pigment marker (a 005 Prismacolor) or a hacked version of the uniBall Signo Bit (the world's finest line @ 0.18mm).

That's my favorite Bible, too. A Cambridge Cameo KJV from 1968 that my father gave to me.

Looks like the first series Balance with the full length clip (1929-30 or so?). Nice

Very nice pen. In August 2000 I bought a 1929 model just like yours, with a flexible medium nib. It was a wonderful writer. I gave in to a momentary urge for a vintage Mont Blanc and traded it away a little over five years ago. I still can't believe I did that!
By the way, my son is named after the main character of your background book.
Lovely pictures, too!

Aha, that is a very nice pen. Love the black and pearl. Great pics too ! I have one similar OS balance and did a double review on it, comparing it to a balance II. You can find it
