Hi Folks ,

I have owned a Stipula Eturia and now i want another Stipula . I am particularly interested in Stipula Ventidue , but since i don't have the option of physically having a look at one of these in a brick and Mortar shop , before ordering one online , i would appreciate some advice as to the following :

1. How good is the nib on the Stipula Ventidue . Is the nib equal in size and quality to the one we have on the Eturia model.

2. What are your impressions regarding the size , shape and grip section as compared to Eturia model . Is the grip diameter and shape as comfortable as the Eturia . Also i understand that the pen is quite short , so does capping it make it comparable in size to pens like Eturia. Is the metal section comfortable ?

3. Lastly , which colour do you folks think is most beautiful.

Thanks , in advance .

regards,

Devjeet

The Ventidue is a resin pen, where many of the Etrurias are celluloid. The Etrurias have either an 18k or 14k nib; the Ventidues have 14k (or the older ones have Titanium).

I really like the Ventidue, but I only have one, and it's not a current color, so I can't really comment on what the colors look like in person.

Thanks , for your prompt reply . Yes, you are very correct in pointing out the diffrences in terms of celluloids and resins and 14k and 18 k nibs. What i am particularly interested in knowing is that , if the nib on Ventidue is equal in size and quality as on the Eturias. If i am not mistaken some Eturia models like the Eturia Nuda come with a 14K rhodinated nib . Also . do you think that diameter of the grip section(threaded part) , would be equal to he Eturia or perhaps to an Pelikan M600 series pen. Answers to these questions will help me decide if this pen wold be suitable for me.

That I can answer when I get Ventidue #2.

I have a Ventidue on the way and should have it in a few days. After much angst over the color I chose the Blueberry. I have an Etruria and will provide you a comparison after I receive the pen.

I have two Ventidues with Ti nibs. The 1.1 stub is really, REALLY nice and the M is just really nice.

They have a great combination of springiness, smoothness and slight tooth or feel on the page.

Folks ! It has been some time now , since i initially posted this . By this time some of you may have received this pen and some of you may have explored it further . So can anybody help me out with the following questions :

1. How good is the nib on the Stipula Ventidue . Is the nib equal in size and quality to the one we have on the Eturia model.

2. What are your impressions regarding the size , shape and grip section as compared to Eturia model . Is the grip diameter and shape as comfortable as the Eturia . I bought an old Stipula 22 (grey marble pattern) at the LA Pen Show last year. It cost me about $120. It has a titanium stub 1.1.
It was something of an experiment (although I already had a Sti;pula Duetto with titaium nib). I normally prefer a sharp shouldered crisp italic nib.

It is short and goes neatly and securely into a shirt pocket (the only comparable shortness is the MB Boheme).

I have to tell you it has become my favorite pen - smooth and I carry it frequently.

The down side is that the piston gave trouble and I had to have it fixed. I was told that it might give problems again.

Since at the same Show I had bought a brand new Omas 360 Iceberg that had to go back for basic nib adjustment. And since my Duetto barrel cracked when it was dropped on a wooden floor I am not very keen on Italian pens.
But I may get over it.
I hope this has helped and not added confusion

I have several Stipulas. I used to have two of the new 22s -- 14k nib + metal grip section. Now I only have one. I sold one because I found the metal section uncomfortable for long writing sessions. I was very sorry to see it go. I used the money to help purchase an Etruria, so at least I kept it in the family, so to speak.

The 22s are wonderful pens. Great ink capacity, very well made, beautiful to look at, but I found that when writing with it, I would grip it very hard. I would "pinch" the pen as it felt like it was slipping through my fingers. Now, this very well might be my personal penchant for holding a pen, and I would not want to dissuade you from getting one. I still have my other 22 and will not part with it. They are well worth the money. I am still looking to get an "older" model with the plastic section.

The size of the nib section of the 22 is comparable to the Eturia, and although the 22 is a short pen, it posts extremely well. If you have used pens with metal sections that are "bowed," and find them comfortable (like some of the Viscontis), then you should like it just fine.

Give it a try, and if you do not like it, you can sell it.

By the way, I think the Forget-Me-Not Blue is the prettiest.

Hi solitaire & Sazerac,

Thanks , for your prompt and comprehensive responses . I earlier had an Eturia Amber and found it to be one of the best pens , in every respect . Is the nib on Eturia and Ventidue models same and interchangeable ?

Thanks , for helping me make up my mind .

Dev

The last Ventidue model has 14 Kt unscrewable nib.
I don't know about Etruria, because so many models have been made that I can't keep count

Hi Susana,

I was counting on the fact that if i don't like the nib on Ventidue , i can always unscrew and swap the nib with the excellent nib on Eturia model . Thanks , for informing me that the nibs of Ventidue can't be unscrewed and swapped like Pelikans.

Sorry, I intended the opposite: the Ventidue nibs do unscrew!
