We frequently talk about this Wahl or that Eversharp pen from the standpoint of collecting or desirability or value. But the fun of these pens is in the using, no? So from that standpoint, what Wahl or Eversharp pens do you have in your normal rotation? Which if any is the one you stick in your shirt pocket each day. Mine a Coronet with black Pyralin insets and a nice early Eversharp plain banner semi-flex nib loaded with my own color - blend of Private Reserve Avocado and Private Reserve copper brown that creates a nice deep dark khaki green. I will need to see what will be the next one I go to cause I can not find it for the last 3 days ever since using it at the dining table in La Mere Germaine restaurant in Villefranche. But that is another topic for another day.
What Wahl-Eversharp pens are in your daily rotation?

One. That's the only Wahl Eversharp I've got. The pen in the top photo (copied from the Marketplace) is the same model as my pen but mine doesn't have the orange coloring. It has a stub nib, and I was told it was made in 1929. What model is it?
The matching stickered pencil I picked up later (bottom photo - seller's actual photo).

The only fountain pen I use is a Pelikan GO. Save the Wahls!

Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentYour pen is a 1928- 31 Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal (lifetime guarantee) Personal Point (interchangable nib assembly) Soldier Clip (rides low in theiameterpocket so as to fit inside of a flap top pocket like those soldiers and others wore in those days). It is the shorter of the two models in that diametrer. The color was called black and pearl. Many people try to keep the pens from discoloring that the pearl is prone to by installing no sac and not using them or installing a clear silicone sac that exude no sulphur or other rubber decomposing discoloring agents might come from. Also the cap is liable to become discolored from the inks that can collect inside the cap and the black hard rubber inner cap. Frequent flushing with cool water will help to remove the inks and keep the cap clean.
These pens were made to be used and while stashing them can be a commendable thing preservation-wise, there is nothing wrong with giving them some good exercise. I do and it gives me a lot of pleasure. And yours having a stub nib to work with...too much to resist.

I have four Skylines and a Symphony (sorry, no pictures). My first is a standard size in black with the gold horizontal lined cap with black derby and a medium/fine semi-flex nib. Next is a Navy Blue standard with green striped cap and a fairly firm medium nib (and a fairly dark ink-view section) . Next is my all green demi with a very smooth fine manifold nib (I don't know how anyone can write with a fine point that's not as smooth as this, or why they'd want to). My last Skyline is my favorite, Brownie (I really don't name my pens, but that's just how fond I am of this one). It's an Army Brown demi with green striped cap and really wide gold cap band (that's gold plated silver, by the way) and a medium to broad semi-flex nib that's the funnest thing I've ever written with. This is the pen that really made me fall in love with Eversharp. And finally, a first generation standard black Symphony with a really sweet medium nib that has just a little flex.
Oddly enough, I've got my little black Sheaffer with military clip in my pocket today... but nine days out of ten I'm carrying one of my Eversharps.
Now I need an old hard rubber Wahl with a flexy nib! (And lots more Skylines.)

Hi!
I have 4 Skylines, all are of recent acquisition and two need work. But the two which have been restored are quite nice. All are in that deep maroon or burgundy and two have gold caps, one quite brassed however.
One has an extra fine nib which I must treat with a very light hand and the other I would say is fine to perhaps medium. I don't post the caps so the lever doesn't get worn and I am very fortunate to have three of them with levers in pretty good condition. The pens hold wonderfully in my hand unposted and I enjoy writing with them as much as I do with my Sheaffers and Esterbrooks.

I think Eversharp-Wahl's are great user pens. It would be a shame not to use those nibs. I like Skylines and the old ringtops, a few of which are in my rotation. I have a recently acquired Doric with a nice flex nib. There's no way that one is going to stay stashed away.

I currently have a Coronet with green inserts. Lovely pen and a great writer which I keep on semi-flex.

To answer the question, i have a few Skylines that i use regularly. I also have a little BHR ringtop with a great nib, and the new Doric. I used to have a metal ringtop with a wet-noodle medium nib. I loved that one, but being so small, it was inevitable that i lost it.

I use my decobands at home (my favorite is a slightly discolored green with a signature flexible nib on it), but I'll take some of my standard size Dorics to work with me.
I know there are hardcore collectors out there, but I can't conceive of buying a pen that I don't intend to use at one point or another.

I just got my first one, a black/gold Symphony with a flex nib. It arrived today from David at Vacumania, and I already love it. I can't imagine letting it sit very long unused.

Are you allowed to take Dorics out of rotation once they are in? I thought there were rules against that..

Marc, you have an outdated edition of the rule book. The new edition of "Pen Rotation: Verisimilitudes & Truisms" (find the funny acronym) is now on eBay.
