Hello Estie fans,

I was hoping that some estie experts might advise which size sacs work for which models: petite pastels, dollar pens, j's, the whole gang (or as many as you feel like listing ;o)

Also, is there a preferred shellac from your experience? Is less expensive better?

Thanks for helping with this request...gonna try my first refurbish project and want to load up on the right materials.
Richard
All Esterbrook J-series pens (J, LJ, SJ, C, and CH) take a No. 16 sac, and they all take it cut to the same length.

Dollar pens take No. 16 or No. 18, depending on whether they're small or large pens, and you need to cut the sacs individually to fit the pens.

The preferred shellac is Tryphon Enterprises' sac cement. Yeah, it's just shellac, but that's like saying Mobil 1 is just motor oil. Tryphon's stuff is noticeably better than the shellac you get elsewhere, and it doesn't really cost all that much when you consider how many pens a bottle of it will do.

Instructions for sac replacement are here.

Richard covered it so.....Good Luck.
Oh Yea, if you haven't gotten one yet, get a section wrench. I busted two pens in the past before I paid attention rolleyes.gif

Hi,

My section wrench of choice - I understand it's the choice of many more proficient repairpersons as well - is the K-D Tools #135 Spark Plug Wrench.

The tool is readily available from online tool sellers and on eBay. Since many such wrenches look quite similar (in my experience), I'd recommend making sure you're buying the real thing and not a lookalike. The price difference is negligible.

Cheers,

Jon
