Full Version: Changing the world, one letter at a time

I came across an interesting website (http://www.elphos.org/) that encourages people to send hand-written letters with positive messages to others. I thought that this really is a wonderful idea and wrote a short thank you note to someone who helped me several years ago. This simple act does make me feel better about this world and I hope that the person who I wrote to will find this to be a pleasant surprise.

I envision that this is something I can do every now and then. After all, making the world a better place is a good excuse to have fun with my pens.

This is a wonderful idea...thanks for sharing it.
I'm a big believer in the idea that it's the little things we do that make a difference...

~you send the thank you
~the person receiving it is surprised and delighted
~later that day, that person is especially kind to a clerk at the grocery store
~then that clerk, feeling special, goes home and spends extra time with her child.

The little things matter...

There are very few things that will deeply affect a person as much as receiving an uplifting handwritten note or letter. It can completely change another person's life. I am wholeheartedly committed to being a part of the movement to communicate more frequently and on a deeper level with friends, loved ones and others through the handwritten word. It is fun, it is meaningful and it allows me to use all these wonderful pens and ink. /Craig

Well put! I couldn't agree more! thumbup.gif

Getting a letter is like getting a gift... you even get to open it. If you're looking for a good excuse to use your pens I encourage you to get a pen pal or two or ten.

I agree. Since I got my pen working (story in other posts) I started writing letters to friends and family. They are always supprised and happy about receiving them, but I find they rarely result in a return correspondence. (So Far out of about 20 letters I have gotten two back.)

I always have a good feeling when I go and drop them off in the post office. In fact I sent one today and stocked up on the "forever stamps" since US postage is going up next month.

Funny but I thought immediately that this should have been posted in Penmanship, because its how I view the way to improve one's hand. Changing one letter at a time... biggrin.gif
