my question is ... how much are they worth .. i mean the market vlaue ?? i found some on ebay and i want to make the purchase but not sure how much they cost ??

also can i be 100 percent sure these are authentic ?? or have duplicates of such pens started floating in the market ??

i been looking for these for a while and can not find them anywhere except the local montblanc boutique which charges a premium on them ... so please if anyone has any info on these beauties .. let me know ..

Hello kuja, welcome to the FPN! Montblanc Annual Editions are produced in unlimited numbers for that year only. I'm not too sure about the prevalence of fakes for this collection, but I think any fakes can be quite easily identified. To give you a frame of reference for cost, the annual edition costs 1350 Euros new, so don't expect one new for less than that. In searching to where to buy one, I went to usual places (Worldlux, Joons, FPH), but none of them have it available. However, Tay from Pensinasia.com has the 2005 and 2006 edition available. He is a well respected reseller, but I don't think the ones you get from him will be warrantied. You will have the e-mail him for prices and nib sizes. I would be cautious when buying MBs from eBay, unless it is a well known seller.
Best of Luck!
PRAG

EDIT: Whoops. They are actually limited in known numbers. 300 a year apparently. Sorry

If you have seen them in person at a boutique, take note of where the serial numbers and other distinguishing characteristics are. Then when looking at eBay make sure those are where they shoud be.

eBay is also a good place to find out the market value. Run a search of completed auctions and take a look at the prices. This will tell you what a MIB, used but good or beater pen is worth.

Like PRAG said, you might check some of the big pen sellers and call or email for their MB prices if they still have your desired pen in stock.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Any chance of turning down the use of bold and turning up the use of capitalization. Bold makes me think you are shouting. Lack of capitalization makes me have trouble taking you seriously.

Quite right, but the first three years (2002, 2003 and 2004) were unnumbered. From 2005 on Montblanc limited the Annual Editions to 300 pieces of each of the three motives.

That would help on this front too.
Thank you Axel for the clarification of the numbers! I was looking at the MB site and was about to do an edit on the edit that would have helplessly confused me.

Hi "kuja",

I might be of help to find you the earlier Annual Editions in mint conditions if you are in Europe. Where are you located?

Best regards,
Axel

Hi again and thanks for the replies .. well i have to start by saying that i live in Qatar which makes my hobby really hard ... you guys in europe are way lucky as you get more pens available to you and at a lower price smile.gif

Sorry if my english is not perfect so bear with me regarding caps and all ... i am a new member but found the site very informative and helpful so iam trying it out ... i will be really interested in making a purchase on these Annual Edition Montblancs ... i would love to collect the Mythical Creatures of each year .. that is my aim ..

here is the ebay item numbers for the auction i am interested in : 300217422595 and 190215896484 ... the sellers seem reputable and the price seems right but you never know ....

so no one knows for sure if fakes of these pens started appearing or not ?? anyone knows of a reputable source for purchase or willing to sell his ??

i am a fairly new collector but already have many pens from Danitrio , Omas , Visconti and Montblanc ... so far the highlight of my collection is the alchemy Visconti LE pen ...

Hi Axel,

I think the porcelain LEs are beautiful and am interested in which you could get, and for how much. I am in Austria. Is there perhaps a website where I could view them all, so that I don't bother you needlessly prior to knowing which I like & can afford?

Many thanks,

Those are very nice pens and I am sure you can find it on the grey market for less than premium. You would probably have to pay for a premium. I am
sure there are probably fakes or duplicates out there. If you don't want to pay for a premium and want to know if there are fakes out there, I am sure you can search ebay and look for a fake to buy. I understand that some people look for the faux models as you don't want to pay premium. When looking for a faux model make sure it's a grade-A faux, Montblanc. I would personally get a real one but that's my opinion.
PigRatAndGoat
Hmmm, I was thinking over the fake pen thing, and I don't think that the annual editions would be targeted. Counterfeiters usually like to fake more well known pens from the Meistruck line of pens. If I were you, I would ask for some real pictures from lot 190215896484, just to be sure. Oh, and did you check out pensinasia.com like I suggested?
Is it just me, or is it surprising how low the selling price is compared to the MSRP?

The low price isn't in itself an indicator that they are counterfeit. The auction still has 8+ days on it and most of the action will be in the last 30 seconds when the snipers come forth. The Buy-it Now price seems reasonable if the seller wants to unload the pen. Searching completed auctions shows that MB Myth series seem to run $1200-1400 but don't get any bids. This particular seller might be more interested in selling it now than listing it a bunch of times and never getting the $2400 he really wants for it.

Hmmm, eBay is a lost cause for me.

Thanks to everyone who replied or triedto help ..

Well, to the guy who suggested that i may be looking for a fake annual edition he is wrong .... i am ready to pay the extra price for genuine pens ... cause to me fakes are lifless worthless imitations ..

anyway, still not sure if i should purchase those pens of ebay ... no one knows for sure if fakes of these pens appeared on the market ... i was hoping if anyone would have dealt with some of these sellers before atleast ..

I have some money laying around burning a hole in my pocket and i want to use it to purchase a pen .. if i am not doing the Annual editions ... i am thinking the Hemingway FP .... or outside the montblanc library the Danitrio grande billante pen ... those are beautiful, limited to 100 pcs worldwide and have a silver handmade cobra clip ..

any thoughts ??

sorry, I thought you were looking for a fake to buy and wanted to know if there was a fake of the porcelain model.

Now that you raise it, I also find these porcelain Montblancs quite beautiful - the Venetian carnival, mythology and fable motifs,
as well as the blue crossed Meissen swords on the cap. happyberet.gif
