Well, I haven't done it in a while so I guess it is time to twist Jim Strutton's tail a bit.... I mean after all what are friends for thumbup.gif lticaptd.gif

Here we go.... a couple of very nice Parker 51s that came into my possession that I have not posted before...

First a Black Parker 51 DJ FP/MP set dated .5. (second quarter 1945) with 14K Gold Filled Scallop Lined Caps...
The scallop lined caps are similar to the wavy line caps, but a lot less common and IMO a lot better looking
These caps were redone by Daniel Kirshheimer and I could not be happier with them

Next is a very nice Gray 51 DJ FP/MP set. The imprint is virtually gone, but I could make out .4 (first quarter 1944). This set has real nice Sterling Silver caps.
Like virtually all gray sets, the pencil does not really match the pen... I don't know if it was a material change or what... but I think I have only seen one pencil match well in all I have seen.
Not sure if this set is going to be a keep.... most likely it will be at the Raleigh Show for sale....

I didn't do the work... you have to contact Daniel Kirchheimer or Ron Zorn. Both do excellent work in this area...

Here is a link to what they looked like before Daniel got them... Dented Scallop caps

Old Griz,
The darkening of the pencil barrel has been a common occurrence with 51 sets. I understand it's because the pencil barrel is made of celluloid and not lucite.

I know... but I don't think it is because the pencil is celluloid... I have worked on loads of celluloid pens and the pencil does not have the same characteristics...
