Full Version: Liaison - did I bust it?

Had a hard time unscrewing the nib this AM and I think I may have stripped the nib off the part that holds the cart. This is what I have now. If there is a part stuck inside the barrel, I am unable to remove it. Off to Waterman?Click to view attachment

There should be a brass tube that came out with the section/feed/nib.

You did turn the end of the barrel to unscrew/extend the section/feed/nib right?

On the Liaison, you unscrew the back of the barrel, not the nib part.
Try to screw that nib back in place, and then unscrew the end of the barrel.

Diane,

Yep I shoulda mentioned that I do know to unscrew from the bottom.

Glenn,

I did try screwing it back in and then out. I think what happened is the brass part that should come out with the nib for some reason is stuck inside the barrel and when I tried to unscrew it all, I stripped the threads and only got the nib out. I tried using a device that removes o rings and has a hook on it and I cannot budge what's left inside. I also tried soaking the inside of the barrel thinking maybe some ink somehow dried in there, but it didn't help.

Perhaps I have another case of a shrinking barrel? I have a similar problem with my Stipula where the barrel has shrunk to the point where I can't get the converter and nib back in. Does the Liaison material do that?

Hi Michele,

OUCH wallbash.gif . Ok, this is the first I have read of a shrinking barrel. What's funny is, I just pulled out my Liaison yesterday, and I have had it for 3+ years. Inked it up just fine. Of course, haven't used my Stipula in a while, so I'd better check on that rascal.

Sounds like you have tried everything to get your pen back to normal. Yes, you may have to send it to Waterman, which has become a real pain, because now, they send to all repairs to FRANCE (and they will charge YOU for the airfare)! bawl.gif

Hey! Is it possible that a convertor is stuck inside? If so, maybe a couple more soaks will loosen it?

UPDATE: Got Fast repair service from Waterman, but a little odd. As you know the brass thingie was stuck inside the barrel - stuck good. So when I got the pen back, they said "no fault" and "no repair needed". I donunnerstand, but I am happy and just hope it doesn't happen again. Repair wait time was about a month.
