Take a look at Montblanc.com for your closest boutique location. Stop in and they'll be happy to provide you with one.

Maybe someone has one handy they could scan and share?

This would be most helpful as the closest MB Boutique is a few hours away...

No, not a good idea. Montblanc wouldn't like seeing scans of their brochures ...

Give them a call and ask for sending it to you. They might be happy to get your name and address on their list to invite you for former events thumbup.gif

I tried to go to several Montblanc former events, but I was always too late. rolleyes.gif

Seriously, though, I was under the impression you had to've already spent a substantial sum at Montblanc in order to garner an invitation. If that's not the case, I'll just sent a nice note to the new shop at King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Thanks Michael. I think the Euro conversion rate to $US at the time of release was around $0.85.

Axel.

I found that I may be able to request one directly from Montblanc via their website request form. Not sure if this will be successful.

I can tell you the price of the Hemingway FP only: $650.

I can't remember the Agatha Christie BP (ruby eyes), but I think it was $350 or $300.

Wow, just think that you could have had this set for about $1000 back in the day. I have heard that these were such dismal sellers that they were going for really low prices after their introduction just to get rid of them. Had I known then...

Cheers,
Sean

Only 650? Is my conversion factor off, or are you talking about internet prices?
PS: I still don't get why so many covet the Hemingway. Its a nice pen, but seemingly undeserving of the fervor that I've seen around the forum (In my opinion of course).

PRAG,

The fervor may be related to the fact that the Hemingway is the first in the series and that it is based on the 139 which is highly desirable by collectors. I personally prefer, in order, the Dumas, Poe, Schiller and Verne over the Hemingway. Still, given the prices that the latter now commands, I wish I had purchased one back in 1992.

The order for me the top five fountains of the Writers Editions are: Imperial Dragon, Marcel Proust, Agatha Christie, Hemingway and the Edgar Alan Poe. smile.gif

Ah, I see. I pretty much agree with you on all those other points here too.
EDIT: No sense in adding another post for this:

Axel, are you sure the Imperial Dragon is part of the Writer's Series? I saw it in the booklet, but I wasn't too sure. I thought it was a special edition.

That's what I paid for it from Fountain Pen Hospital in 1993. Actually, it was listed at $650, but I paid $600, and FPH threw in a hard-case cigar-style case for it.

When I opened the package, I thought it was the ugliest pen I'd ever seen. Then I fell in love with it, and it was beautiful. And it writes fabulously.

I tossed the packaging (such is my way) and had the cap engraved with my name (married at the time, heh), so even if I wanted to sell it, I'm sure it wouldn't get nearly the price ones in mint condition with packaging and no engraving are fetching.

But I don't want to sell it. It's a fabulous writer, and it is, as I said, a beautiful pen.

Well, that's a good question.

As the snake clip of the Agatha Christie in Asia (unhappy omen) wasn't as successfull as Montblanc thought, the executive board of Montblanc looked for a more and better-selling product and decided to launch the Dragon clip for Asia.
The Imperial Dragon is very similar to the Agatha Christie, except the cap of the Imperial Dragon is a tiny bit longer. OK, and the nib and the clip is different.

So it is a special edition, yes, but on the other hand also a part of the Writer's Edition (at least for me blush.gif ).

Axel

Today I was in a MB "boutique" ehm... only to purchase a LAMY Safari, I admit embarrassed_smile.gif .
However, that's not the point.

I took a leaflet introducing the new "Francois Ier" LE from the Patron of the Art edition. The interesting part is that the last page of the leaflet listed all the pens being part of the two major MB LE editions: "Patrons" & "Writers". The Imperial Dragon is definetly part of the Writers series, and to confirm Axel story, it is the only case of a "double entry" in a single year.

Now I'm curious: why the snake is not a good choice for the Asian market?

Cheers,
orbit
