Previously, I posted a modified kit pen in this material. This pen is not kit-based. The only brass in it is a 1" piece in the barrel, into which the nib and section screw.

Total weight with the converter in it is just less than 18 gm. Overall length closed is 5.25", the cap is 2.1 and the barrel is 5. Posted the length is 6.25 - a bit long, I think. The cap is a click fit and does post, although I believe the barrel needs some work to allow the cap to post more securely.

The nib is a fine Mutschler - steel with gold plating, and marked "Reform, Germany". The clip is a rolling ball.

Your comments are welcome.

Very nice, looks great!

I think a minor thing would make it look even better though, is if the trim ring on the section matched the silver trim of the clip.
Also personally, I might prefer the end of the pen to be a little more rounded and tapered.

Thanks for this, Neo.

I agree with both points. On the clip/section match, I'm a bit out of luck, as I cannot get the clips in gold and I cannot get the section with anything other than the gold trim. I may try to remove the trim on it altogether, though.

As for the barrel shape, I was planning to do some more tapering, and you've helped me decide. If I don't blow the barrel out, I'll post pics of the new version.

Beautifull pen Grant, is it made in celluloid?
I would suggest to add a silver reinforcement ring around the cap edge, both for esthetical reasons & reducing the risks for cap edge cracks when posting;
Just my 2 cents!
Francis

Thanks for your input, Francis. I start a silver ring-making course in a few weeks, so I'll perhaps be able to follow up on your idea in a few months.

Excellent looking pen, well done.

Awesome plastic. Great looking pen but if you can find a section/nib without a plated rind next to the nib it would be much better.

Thank you for your comment. I really enjoyed following your links.

It looks really very nice, and the light weight should enable you to write for ages & ages with it.

Regards

Richard.

I'm sensing the beginning of another hobby when I ask this question: where does one obtain actual celluloid to turn?
dfurlano
True Celluloid is very difficult to find. If you happen to find any please let us all know.

Just to be clear, this is not celluloid. It is an Italian acrylic. I've never come across any celluloid.
