I've got a green herringbone CS27 which was restored by Conway Stewart in about 2002, back in the Don Yendle days. I've just got the pen out and found the lever was hardly moving, so I thought I'd replace the sac as it wasn't taking up any water. Problem, I can't move the section at all. Anyone know if CS at that time would have stuck the section and if so, what might have been used and how to get it unstuck? Heating doesn't work.

Hi Carrie,
I am sorry that I do not have the information you are looking for however Henry Simpole repairs vintage CS pens and if you need his information, I will gladly forward it to you.
Kind regards,
Mary

Are you using section pliers, Carrie?

After chatting to a couple of people at the Northern Show and establishing that it wasn't likely to be some really odd glue, I got brave and after much gentle persuasion and heating I finally got the pen apart. It was really getting about 1/8th of a millimetre at a time and believe me it really did not want to come apart! Found one very gooey sac, so it's now in pieces awaiting new sac. Using a pair of DIY created section pliers

Glad you got it apart safely, Carrie.
I use a similar tool, normal pliers with some rag wrapped around the business part. Worked fine, until one stubborn section and the tiny teeth of the pliers bit through the rag and into the section. Not a disaster but I am much more careful now!
Surprised the sac has gone off so quickly. Perhaps a silicon sac would be the answer.
