This is one which foxed me.

The nib and the banding on the barrel and cap reminded me of a Vacumatic.
The cap band looked like that from a 1950s English Duofold.
But shape, tassie and the fact it was a cartridge filler tended to push me towards some sort of prototype Sonnet.

Further enquiries revealed that there were no markings on the barrel and the only wording on the nib was Special.

Any ideas anyone? Is it a Parker?

Looks like a Skater or some other Parker knock-off

Thanks for the information, David.

I am not familiar with Skater and other copies, but my thoughts were that the pen was probably not a genuine Parker - particularly with the 'Special' branding to the nib. Prototypes do occasionaly turn up on Ebay but it seems that this wasn't one. I'll keep on looking...!

My pleasure. As an aside, be very careful about anything presented as a "prototype" on ebay.

Even the recent Benz offering of a prototyical reproduction of Mussolini's pen? Gosh!

I wish I were kidding.

Must admit I put in a low bid on this, I was pretty certain it wasn't a genuine Parker but was interested in seeing what it was like, especially as it looks vintage and takes cartridges.

Wasn't too disappointed not to win, but might have been nice to see it in person.
