I have some scraps of leather left over from other projects and I thought it would be an idea to make a pen case from it. I'm looking for ideas on this; I have seen some pen cases such as the Pelikan range, and would probably base it on that. I have some nice green stained leather for this project. Anyone felt the urge to make a case?

Thanks

I made a pen case but not out of leather. I knitted it with 2 strands of silk yarn. It's a simple pouch with a flap and an antique button closure. It's not perfect but it does the job for now. My husband laughs at me because I can make just about anything out of yarn. He wonders how long it will be before he'll have to use knitted toilet paper!

Hello Mucephei,

As a matter of fact, I recently made 4 pen cases. When I first met fellow FPN'er "Penturner" last year, he carried a 2-pen case in his shirt pocket that I really admired, and I used that for my basic design; like you, I had some scrap leather and thought I'd give it a try

When you open it up, the 2 pen pouches are on the left (with a pocket underneath), and another pocket is on the right where I slide in the back cover to the little black Moleskin notepads you can pick up in Barnes & Noble (in packs of 3). It closes with 3.5" leather strap/tab which has a snap on the end. I'll try to attach some photos so you can see it... to get an idea of the pen pocket sizes, I've tucked my Waterman 94 (Moss-Agate) and Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal in to the pockets. They'll actually go in a little deeper, but I thought it looked a bit more interesting if you could see the tops peeking out.

What do you think? This one is the 4th... the first 3 were given to fellow WW2 memorabilia collector buddies with vintage pens inside; I'm trying to get interested in fountain pens!

I've also made several unique "pen rolls" designed especially for pen show dealers/vendors who typically need to lay out several pens at a show. I made my first one for Penturner, who said he needed something that he could transport several pens in safely to a show, then simply 'unroll' them so they could be displayed for sale. My second one went to Alan Kaufman who some FPN folks might know -- Alan was my Christmas pen exchange partner (Zoss List Christmas Exchange run by Mario Escobar), so I sent him the pen roll along w/ the exchange pen. He seemed to like it a lot, and encouraged me to make more to sell. If anyone is interested, I'll post pictures of it (maybe in Marketplace?)

Oh that is impressive, Don! I love it! A nice, portable little writing-kit! smile.gif

Nice work there Don! That's an idea. I like the idea of a "pen roll" like a tool roll. I'd not heard of that before.

That is a very handsome set up! Well done! If you decide to sell those, put me on your list!
