First evaluation of the Wing Sung #237 shows it's a winner. I loaded it with Sheaffer Black, and it wrote a perfect fine line on CHEAP, POROUS 99-cent Chinese notepaper.
With just the right amount of tooth. The red marbleized body is very nice, and the gold-plate nib is very nice too.
How can you complain at these prices? If they all write like this, I'm gonna pick up a few more.
Even the chrome cap looks pretty good. The cap seats nicely with the just the right amount of force...
If this baby continues to write with no skips, leaks, or errors---it's all I need, plus a few more as "spares".

All my Wing Sungs are good writers, and I have several of them. Nice wet flow, just the way i like it.

Here is a link with good pictures.
Wing Sung 237I have the orange (butterscotch) one. One of my favorites ever.

The Wing-Sung false triumph nib is perhaps my favorite rigid nib to use (I have the pathetic false Cisele, Wing Sung 235). The nib is quite wet but not enough to feather, nice moderate contact with the paper, beautiful to look at, and CHEAP. I would call it a true fine, though my Wing Sung 500 (with a false P75 nib) is more like a wet XF.
I imagine the real triumph nibs are even better, but I've never tried them.

The real Triumph nibs are much, much better than the Wing Sung nibs, if the pen I have is representative. No comparison.

I found a Wing Sun 236 (exactly the same as the 237, but with an all black body) at a stationary store and picked it up a few months ago. After ignoring it because I found the nib bland, I decided to put my nib grinding skills (which I didn't have) to the test! After an hour with some wetstones, mylar, a loupe, and much scribbling, I had an EF stub that was smoother than the original. That pen has since become my pants pocket pen (my others reside in a pen case in my bag or in a jacket pocket) and a favorite to use. Funnily enough, going through my grandfather's things yesterday we came across a Sheaffer Triumph pen/pencil set. I've been soaking it off and on, and I'll probably ink it up tomorrow. We shall see how well my fondly regarded replica compares to the real thing.
