On the Lamy website, they list the nib options for their Safari line as XF, F, M, B, and "Left Hand". I've seen the nibs available other places in 1.1 and 1.5mm Italic. I know the Italics are square-nosed, but what it the "Left Hand"? Is that an oblique nib? An Italic with a smoother finish?

It is an oblique, and also a misnomer. People use obliques because they rotate their pen to the right or left. Often, obliques are more accurately referred to as right foot or left foot obliques, because the nib slant resembles the slant of the toes of your right or left foot. You can be left handed and not need an oblique. There's really no such thing as a left handed pen. I am left handed, and don't rotate my pen.

Okay, I figured it was an oblique issue. I am pretty much a left-handed "pusher" so a plain italic nib is probably what I'll want, then.

Thanks for the reply!

Since Lamy Safari nibs are readily available and easily changed, you could get a pen and an extra nib, or just get two Safaris. Or two Safaris and an extra nib...

I could do that, but I want to make a reasonable attempt at getting it right the first time smile.gif
