Hi all,

I own a Omas Paragon HT (new style) which yesterday suddenly started leaking ink between the section and the barrel. Does anyone know if this is a 'commen' problem of this pen? I recently heard Omas has some problem in its aftersales, also in repairing the pen.
Any experiences or suggestions are appreciated!

Cheers,

Send it to repair. I had a similar problem some years ago. Omas uses some sort of jewelers resin to seal the body/section joint.

Which ink have you used in that pen? Did it leak from the start or after some use?

Thanks, Juan, I used Sailor black ink. It indeed started after some use, but only limited use; I filled it only once before.

cheers,
Luca

Yes... quite common, two out of my five celluloid models did this. Showed up on the third inking or so.

Is this the new Paragon (post 2005) or the old version?

Hi Charlie, this is the new Paragon, post 2005

Get some non-hardening section sealant from Giovanni at Tryphon enterprises. It costs ten bucks. I you're dextrous with such things, you can easily cure the problem yourself. I've done so a couple of times with my Omas pens. It's easy and uncomplicated. Unscrew the section, clean the threads, and apply the heated sealant (heat in a bath of hot water) around the threads with a toothpick. Then, screw on and wipe off excess sealant. Done!
The sealant is good for a long time and sufficient to cure many a pen.

I had two Arco Milords leak in the same place within the first week. I sent them to Kenro and received new replacements. The third one has not leaked in the three weeks I have had it.

One very good advice from Mr Mora is never to use Omas Ink because it is a very corrosive ink and it can damage the piston filler, I was also confirmed that by the owner of the pen shop called le Palais du Stylo.

?? Mr. Mora?

I have a bottle of Omas red ink, which I've used in my MB 144R (currently on a rest cycle). But corrosive ink? In which Ph direction is it corrosive? Perhaps it can be easily corrected. I gotta get some litmus paper, though the red color is going to present a problem. Is there another way to test Ph level other than litmus paper or tasting it?

Come on Fred, tasting sounds about right. You can do it! Hopefully people won't think that you're some sort of cannibal when they see your tongue afterwards. roflmho.gif
And if your teeth are still there after the test, we know that there was no sulphuric acid in Omas' ink brew.

Fred, if you're going to do this, I suggest that you choose one that is pH neutral to first cleanse your pallet. I also hope that you have a good dentist and/or internist.

Back on topic, I don't have a current production Omas Paragon. With the exception of the two Omas Bolognas, all my Omas pens are older production. Of my Paragons, none have ever leaked. If leaking is common on these pens, then I guess I must be just lucky. Thanks to Wolfgang (omasfan) for the relatively easy fix though, should my luck turn.
