Can a Pelikan medium nib on a 625 be reground to a broad stub?

I've found that I like broader lines, but I can't buy an all rhodium plated nib to replace that on my 625. I'd always heard that Pelikan's tended toward a bolder line--I don't think that's true (at least on the two I own).

Gosh, I think you'd have to define what a broad stub is for you. To me, anything more than .8mm is broad. In which case, sure. But to others 1.2+ might be broad therefore, probably not. Also, the obvious, depends on the original tipping and I've got a *Fine* that writes about at least .7mm standard line. The Fine from my blue 400 was ground to a .6mm stub (probably a fine-to-medium by most standards) and by looking at it, it is obvious that the nib grinder had room to spare and could have gone with a broader stub if I had wanted it.

Check John Mottishaw's site for specs. I doubt a medium could be turned into a broad stub. However, he can re-tip the nib then turn it into a stub. It might be less expensive to just buy another nib that is already a broad stub. Pelikans would be great pens even if their nibs were not so easy to change. That they are so easy to change makes them stupendously great pens.

See http://nibs.com for more than you knew you wanted to know about nibs, especially Pelikan nibs.
