Here are a couple of new Pelikan releases. I was just wondering if you've heard about them or whether you like them or not:

Majesty in Silver and Black:

M215 Orthogon (scroll down in link, the new pen is depicted below the Lozenge M215):

Lighthouse of Alexandria:

Also, the Ductus is now available in gold trim.

I actually don't mind the look of the Lighthouse of Alexandria... but why the enormous gold section ring that will get soaked with ink?! Pelikan really has to stop doing that...
punch
I like all three.

I don't like metal pens at all, but I much prefer this version of the Majesty to the previous one (silver with gold trim = shudder, for me). The M215 Orthogon is interesting, and a nice addition to the series. As for the Lighthouse, well, Liberace called and was wondering where his pen had run off to ;-).

I personally think that the silver/gold Majesty betrays taste. This one with its ugly black cap is just off. Had they replaced the gold trim with some black trim, then I'd say ok, but as it is now.... sick.gif

roflmho.gif Yeah, pretty gaudy pen. With a MSRP of I believe EUR3000, this will not be on my list of flashy metal sticks to buy. rolleyes.gif

After reading about Deirdre's pen and the story behind it (link), I look at the Pelikan's Lighthouse of Alexandria in a whole new way smile.gif

I agree. That's a great story!

Thanks. I knew I'd find "the right pen," but I went in with no preconceptions about what "the right pen" would be, except that Bittner could find me one. I was looking for something that meant something to me, and I'd always been sad as a kid about the tales of the destruction of the Library of Alexandria (which, not being a huge tourist attraction, wasn't on the list of seven wonders).

I didn't expect to like Alexandria after our day in Cairo (my initial reaction to Cairo was extremely negative), but I had a great time.

I like the 215. I would not have expected to but for some reason it appeals to me. If I ever get a 215 (weight is an issue) then it will be hard to chose between it and the lozenge.

the other two are too much. Don't like metal. Don't like LEs.

My view is diametrically the opposite of yours.

The 215? Lozenge is nice, the new version is too 80's (I think I owned a pair of Vans with the same pattern).

The Lighthouse? A Donald Trump paper weight.

The Majesty? It has potential, but Pelikan has yet to achieve the right color combo. I suggest silver/titanium.

Where's the 1005? We heavy-handed folks like silver too!

Can't say that I care for either of these new pens. The gold trim alone is a deal-breaker for me. As for the new M215 -- I am so in love with the Lozenge, that the "rhodiniert Rechteck" pales in comparison.

What I really, really want is an M815 Lozenge version! Don't think there is much chance of that though : (

Yes, I see that.
