Has anyone tried the pen seen here:
http://www.artbrown.com/Pelikan-Pura-Fount...er-P5566C0.aspxI'm trying to decide between that or the Waterman Phileas Fountain pen.

Yes. Nice pen. It writes well and is made of metal. Not at all the same as a Phileas, so there is really nothing to compare other than they both use ink. It will depend on which one feels the best for you.

My only problem with the Phileas is that the plastic feels a little cheap. All Pelikans are trully made for writting, can't say the same about every model Waterman offers. However, the Phileas is a reliable writer, the nib feels pleasant.

If I'm thinking of the right model, I think the Pura doesn't post well. That eliminated it from consideration for me.

The Pura is also pretty heavy, I found.

I've not written with a Phileas, but I own a Pura. It is all metal and is more heavier as mentioned above. Mine sure writes awful nice. It's part of my permanent collection. Afterall, it's a Pelikan!

I just finished writing a review of the Pura which I need to post here on FPN. I've been waiting for a bright day when I can take photos. I have a number of photos placing the Pura side-by-side with a Cross Townsend for comparison, and have measurements on size and weight. Let's see if I can post the review in the next day or so. BTW, my Pura is also for sale (!).

I've had a Pura for about a year and I love the way she writes (as Radman says, "Afterall, it's a Pelikan!") and, yes, she is heavy but I like a bit of heft. One annoying characteristic is that, depending on the temperature, the cap will either post or drop off the end of the barrel. I live on the east coast of Canada so temperature here is a yo-yo (but right now, freakin' chilly).
Still, we must accept our loved one's faults.
