What's it like?

Here is a very good review where you find the most important imformation and a scan:

And here you find a comparison with many blacks, also Heart of Darkness where you can see how it differs from other inks

I noticed in yor review, you mentioned shaking of the Noodler's. Are they all supposed to be shaken before use?

It's not my review, I just recommend it as the information provided there is very good and the scans are very helpful in finding the ideal black.

I don't have Noodler's Black or Heart of Darkness yet. (But I've orderd it, but here outside the US, this ink is difficult to get). But Private Reserve Ultra Black is also very dark and highly saturated and there, I've seen the same issue: you necessarily don't have to shake the ink bottle before taking your load, but if you want to have a daker colour, it could be good to shake it because all Noodler Blacks have a high dye content. That's all. Not shaking it won't turn a black ink into a grey ink.

According to the reviews its close to the blackest black ink available (Old Manhattan Blackest Black may be "blacker").

I like it, it flows well and writes smoothly. And is of course bulletproof...

I got a bottle of this not to long ago and find it the richest black I have ever used short of Platinum's Carbon Black. In the provided eyedropper pen it flows very heavily even to the point of leaving pools of ink if you pause to long. I don't know if this is symptomatic of the ink or the pen.

Doesn't pool in the pen that came with it for me, nor does it happen with my Pelikans, Stipula 22, Omas 360, Sailor Sapporo Mini...

The ink does make a slightly wider line than other inks in the same pens though.

The ink doesn't cause the drops from the pen. It's the pen. I've now gotten multiple of these eyedropper pens. They all spew drops of ink on the page.

I filled one of my pens with regular Noodler's Black this past weekend. I was pretty disappointed with it compared against HOD. I find HOD much darker and smoother than regular black.
