Heya,

I'm looking for an affordable portfolio. Something in the A4 size, maybe with a pocket for some papers, space for a pad (which I assume they always have), and maybe zip-around. Preferably not too bulky or heavy... thinking genuine leather would be good.

I've had a look around the local shops (in Melbourne, Australia), and it looks like the Samsonite range would suit me best... around $120AUD (which is ~$100USD) for a leather one, half price for a PVC one.

Just wondering if there are some other brands I should keep an eye out for, or any good websites that may sell these.

(also, are there any other keywords I should be searching for? I've tried portfolio, compendium, folder...)

If i may...i'm also looking for an A5 size leather refillable folio. Currently using unlined Moleskine, but i have a habit of tearing pages away...Appreciate any recommendation, wondering if Clairefontaine hv loose A5 sheets...

One suggestion is to try Renaissance Art, and take a look around. They are all about customization, too, so may be able to work with you if you land on a design that you need larger/smaller. They made a presentation folder for me that was larger than the current offering without too much difference in price. I know they will ship to Australia. You may want to contact them for shipping options.

usual disclaimer, not affiliated, just satisfied customer.

I use a lot of Levenger products, including their Circa stuff, but I'm not sure what their shipping costs would be like to Australia. (They are pretty high just in the states!)

I had a look at Renaissance Art, but looks like their prices are a bit more than I was looking to spend. I also want something a bit more subtle, just plain black leather would do.

I'll check out Levenger and see what they have.

Thanks for the suggestions! smile.gif

Be careful NeoTiger. Levenger does not carry A4 size portfolios but the US equivalent so A4 pads will not fit.

Have a look at Oroton - they make a classy but expensive portfolio. Also Pen City in Melbourne has a very nice range www.pencity.com.au

Often you will find good value leather ones in stores like Myer, DJs, Sirrocco Leather, and most good leatherwear stores.

Just realised you are in Melbourne too. G'day!

Oroton factory store at DFO Essendon Airport often has a couple marked down. Wander into Pen City 250 Elizabeth St, see John and tell him Pete from 3AW sent you - he will look after you with a nice discount.

I have also seen some nice hand made versions at the St Kilda Esplanade market on Sundays, and Officeworks has some good value versions.

Well, if you are a woman I can point you in the right direction....but if you are a guy, you are out of luck. Try Padfolio as a keyword. I happen to sell A4 Leather Zip around Day Planners designed by Vera Bradley...but they don't have the traditional Vera Bradley Designs. They come in a mulititde of colors, all for the ladies. Here is the link to my store on ebay: Search "Day Planner" when you get to the home page...........
