Has anyone ever seen a combination between Parker and Sheaffer – desk and fountain pen set?
I saved this set from being discarded and I’d like to know more about it.
I would appreciate any information.

Looks like you have a Parker Magnetix base.

I use one to hold my Shaeffer desk FP with an inlaid nib and they seem to fit together quite well.

Do you have a picture of the nib?

I suspect their previous owner just put them together as he liked how they looked together. I did the same thing.

I like the base and my Parker 51 desk pen clogs when I use my favorite Noodlers ink in it. The Shaeffer pen works very well with the Noodlers ink and writes like a dream. Joy.

Best regards,

Bobby

I also think the base is a magnetix. The ball is held in place by a strong magnet. I believe the pen is an Imperial Sheaffer. Because Sheaffer dest pens are tapered, they fit well in a lot of different bases. I have a Sheaffer BP that looks quite at home in an Esterbrook "8 ball" holder, in my opinion anyway.

Thank you very much!
What's your advise - to keep the pen or to get rid of it?

Oh definitely keep it. I have two and they are very nice desk pens. They work beautifully and it fits your Parker. One day you may find a pen to fit the Parker, or as I did a couple weeks ago, find the perfect holder for the Sheaffer... or eventually you may fine one of each.

I am fairly new here and I am not much of an internet user, so i can't answer that question. Desk set collectors are rarer than regular pen collectors too, but someone may have a source for you.

I just like to get out and make a day trip to somewhere,, any where and see the sights and browse antique stores. I just find them sometimes, sometimes not.

The Sheaffer desk pen is often a great daily writer!

I like mine as I am able to use high pigment ink without the clogging that my Parker 51 desk pen suffers from.

The base is fun and I often use a Parker base with my Sheaffer desk pen.

Use and enjoy!

Ebay carries desk pens and bases, and the prices can be quite reasonable.

Good luck.
